Historical facts and incidents that have changed the world over the past five years It is fundamental to that there is no any century in recorded history which has experienced so many social and political transformations and such far-reaching ones as the 21st century. It is worth to note that some social and political changes have triggered civil wars, rebellions, economic growth, delayed the transfer of ideas and spiritual crises. But what is never-wrecking is the mere fact that the extreme social and political transformations of this epoch have instigated many detrimental upheavals. I can pinpoint out that over five years the press, politicians, and the public have made the 21st century to be one of the cruelest and most ferocious era in the world history. In history, ever since 1970, only in 2013 that we experienced peak global terrorist activity in the world (Primakov, 2014, N.p). The press, politicians, and the public self-motive have promulgated and propagated civil wars, genocides, mass tortures, ethnic and race clashes, and holocausts. All this coldhearted acts of this century are insinuated by the headline-making political events, which have transformed not only the economy but also the society and the political entity we live in. For that reason, I am not embarrassed at averring that private interests purported by the press, politicians, and the public has gathered more courage to influence the policymaking process and our live in general. Consequently, the press and public have become less responsive due to large sums of cash used by the politician to influencing our political system. In relation to that, we can say that same people from the public and the press are eyeing for a fair shot to improve their lives and move skyward. Therefore, we shall candidly try to use some historical facts and incidents that have occurred over the past five year to explain how politics has influence all ways of life thus resulting to changes social, political, and economic arena. It is so an unfortunate to note that politics is about life and governments make decisions that influence our day-to-day life. Therefore, lack of strong political system and political legitimacy are more influential in explaining the rise of the terrorist organization such as such as ISIL (Deash), Boko Haram, and Al Shabaab. You can agree with me that if the government of the day failed effusively to address the end of gross physical right abuse, group grievances and nosedive to improve the access to justice and the rule of law. There is a high possibility for the rise of potential and unexpected acts of mass violence thus endorsing terrorism to prevail. Subsequently, if the government is incapable of devastating inequality, discrimination based on religious or ethnicity, corrupt leaders, and illegitimate government, then it will miscarry in encountering the terrorism. Additionally, the existences historical conflicts due to injustice and repression by foreign colonial power have significantly contributed to the rise in terrorism in many countries in the world. For instance, Islamic States of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) started as Jamaat al-Tawhid Wal-Jihad in Iraq. The group rose as a result of America-led invasion of Iraq and become more radical in 2013-2014. ISIL is acknowledged for its life-threatening violence and trepidation tactic that was witness in Syria in 2013 and Iraq 2014. However, there is no sufficient reason to blame the rise of Islamic States of Iraq and Levant. This is because United States had contributed for the upcoming Islamic States of Iraq and Levant. US invasion of Iraq concentrated mainly in guarding oils fields hence leaving Iraq boundaries wide-open for thousands of jihad combatants to come into the country (Underhill, 2014, pg. 167). US has also contributed to deteriorating security in Iraq by dismantling Iraqi army that was the only force familiar with the layout of Iraqi topography. Therefore, from this we can depict that if the U.S. Army had not dismantled Iraq Arm, then ISIL could not have raised as Iraq Arm new the their topography well, and this could have given them the potential to curb the armed revolutionaries compared to U.S. Army. As a result, we can depict that poor governance in Iraq and repressions by foreign colonial power have significantly endorsed terrorism that result in loss of life and the destruction of property. Subsequently, Islamic States of Iraq and Levant ideology its primary goal is aspiring to make Sharia law a general law that is responsible for governing Muslims. Islamic states perceive sharia law as the only thing that can be used to rescue members of Islamic states from fraudulent and corrupt leaders. From this, it is important to note terrorist use violent as an alternative tool to acquire religious, social or political goal. Islamic states gain much support from people in Iraq, eastern Syria and Afghanistan by promising its members the return of flourishing Islamic states known as the ‘caliphates’ that will be ruled by supreme leader who will use sharia law to govern ‘caliphates’. Therefore, many Muslim saw Islamic states group as a responsible organization committed to restoring a legal system that will inculcate co-existence of fairness and respect as demand by sharia law. Consequently, due to lack of strong political system and political legitimacy that is powerful at addressing corrupt and illegitimate government has resulted in the rise of ISIL. In 2013 terrorist activity increased extensive leading to 17,958 people losing their live and 66% of 17,958 was claimed by four to terrorist organization that ISIL, Boko Haram and Al Shabaab (Peace and economic, pg.2). From above elucidation, it is ostensible that lack of strong political system and political legitimacy that is liable in overcoming discrimination in power, discrimination based on religious or ethnicity, existences of corrupt leader and illegitimate government are key factor triggering in terrorism (Peace and economic, pg.38). As a result, there is an increase in the cost of security for the government and it also increase uncertainty in the market, alter trade, and decrease foreign investment and change in consummation and saving behavior. For instances, due increased in terrorism the year 2010, Nigeria economy experience the decline of Foreign Direct Investment by 30% in 2011(Peace and economic, pg.45). Hence, it clear that insecurity in one country is insecurity in the whole world, as it affects the general economy thus causing increased uncertainty in the market. Uncertainty in the market and decrease in foreign investment in one country will affect me as there is inflation in the marker. Additionally declined in tourism and trade will influence the rate of employment, and this will directly affect me as I also lose my job hence subjecting me to low the standard of living. Political instability and political terror causes the decreases of a country GDP and general the world market is affected, because of decrease in trade, demolition of human and physical capital thus causing long run effects on individual like me. For instances, ISIL is believe to control a dozen oil fields such as Al-Nusrah well and refineries in Iraq. Thus, ISIL activity affect us directly due to it is impact on the general world market price of crude oil (Peace and economic, pg.52). Above and beyond this, there is a high possibility for the growth of terrorism in our countries and in other countries as political instability and political terror in one region might build and catalyze difference in region, ethnicity and races thus triggering international conflicts. It is unfortunate to note that terrorism ruined the existences of good relation between individuals, communities as well as ruining the cross-border relationship. Therefore, it is clear that lack of strong political system and political legitimacy that is legally responsible in incapacitating discrimination in power, religious or ethnicity, and failed to the state to forestall corruption and illegitimate government are basic factors in promoting political instability and political terror in the world. Similarly, Boko Haram a terror group in Nigeria has similar ideology as that of ISIL. Boko Haram’s ideology, advocate for the abolishment of nonspiritual system of government to give in to the establishment of an authoritarian form sharia law (Peace and economic, pg.53). Boko Haram is trying to change the world history as it is against Western influence in the form of education. Thus, this group is attacking educational institution to portray its disapproval of western education. For instances, in 2014 they attacked one girl in Chibok and kidnaped 200 girls. From this, we can portray how the state government has failure to integrate dissident groups of emerging religion. Additionally, I can suggest that lack of strong political system in Nigeria has given Boko Haram an opportunity to undermine the Nigerian government while increasing religious tension thus influencing politics in the region. What’s more, Boko Haram is believed to be funded by wealthy members in Nigeria and drug trafficker of Narcotic to Europe in collaboration with Al-Qaida (Peace and economic, pg.53). Subsequently, I can clearly depict that terror in Nigeria has been instigated by political terror that resulted in corruption to prevail. The terror in Nigeria is caused by lack of sturdy political system that can adequately address the end of inequality in power, discrimination based on religious or ethnicity and existences of corrupt leaders. The lacks of sturdy political system in Nigeria will substantially affect me directly as this terrorist are involved in stimulating region differences thus fostering regional and international conflict. Consequently, Boko Haram and other terror activity will general affect the world economy as these terrors will cause the decline in foreign investment and demolition of human and physical capital thus fluctuating trade activities causing. This will have long run effects on individual like me our business will feel insecurity due uncertainty in the global market. For instances, in 2013 Boko Haram beheaded 11 private developers. In relation to this, i feel affect as I may also fall a victim at the hands of this terror group thus I suffering psychologically. Terrorism acts in Nigeria, Syria, Ukraine and other parts of the worlds have affected me psychological since my security is not guaranteed. Additionally, terrorism acts have also limited my freedom of movement. What’s more, terrorism has triggers in conflict between individual and nation hence making the world an insecure place for me and you to live. Moreover, from the aforementioned historical facts and incidents that have occurred in Nigeria, Syria and in Iraq it is clear that the terrorism experiences are stimulated and propagated by political terror (Underhill, 2014, pg. 231). For instances, increase in terrorism may lead the government of the day to implement punitive, Illegal acts and authoritarian policy that instigated the torture of citizen or state violence. As a result, it creates a vicious cycle of violence in the world making it difficult to identify motivators behind it. Therefore, I feel obliged to avow that governance discrepancies are possibly the most noteworthy factor stemming conflict in the world. Governance discrepancy is prone at initiating terror due to its incapability to avert corruption, defilement of human rights, illegitimate government, and international human rights. It is considerable for me to remark that a government that is not responsive in ensuring fairness prevails toward their own society is agitating for conflict and terrorism in the world. Moreover, the government that works hard in reducing corruption resolve difference of opinion and grievance constructively and one that offer fair access to social services is government that is determined in encountering terrorism (Glint, 2014, pg. 201-203. Therefore, there is the need for us to reform our current leadership and our political institution for the human race to be in a better position of countersigning the world peace. What is nerve-wracking is the mere facts that terrorism is a major threat to global security and global leaders and political expertise must wake up from their comfy slumber and attend agent matter before it get out of hand. Apparently, I strongly believe that the contemporary changes in the economic arena, changes in structures of governments and the unabated upsurge in fanaticism will cause increase in the cost of living. As a result, the government agencies will sojourn in allocating funds to programs that help needy families, improve education standard and avail the essential basic services. Subsequently, if the world leaders are not ready to reform the political institution, terrorism will prevail. Thus, I have the opinion that in future there will be shrinkage in the trade, destruction of both human and physical capital which will have short-run and long-run negative implication to the whole world population. Despondently, if terrorism is not confronted with right strategies and effective mechanism, the future will not guarantee life to any living specimen. In conclusion, I still hope that one-day terrorism, economic manipulation and formulation and implementation of confrontational policies will be an act of the past. If only the worlds’ government employs effective long-term approaches, that will address the end of gross physical right abuse, consideration group grievances and improve the access to justice and the rule of law. Subsequently, if the government is capable of overcoming inequality in power, discrimination based on religious or ethnicity, elimination of corrupt leaders and illegitimate government are the key factor that will ensure terrorism culminate.
