Ethics al Affiliation) Living together with Animals & Environmental Ethics An ethic is the general principal that presides over a certain group of people. An individual or certain group of people is confined into these social norms. Environmental ethics in general describes the relationship that exists between human beings and the environment. This assesses the effects of technological developments, the constant growing human population, and industrial activities on the environment (Hinman, 2008).

Due to technological development and industrial revolution, there has been continued use of chemicals pesticides, which has led to destruction of the ecosystem. The use of the chemicals has caused the death of wildlife after the consumption of contaminated vegetable and water. Despite the fact that animals can be used in experiments for the development of new medical treatment, this experiments cause severe pain and even death to the specimen. Moreover, experiments on animals also reduce the quality of an animal’s lifespan.

The experimenters are well versed with the environmental ethics and they can still create an alternative specimen and get validated results (Hinman, 2008). Using animals for experiments can only be compromised only in cases where the pain involved is minimized and in cases where there is no other alternative specimen for a given experiment. Instead of using animals as specimen, there is a replacement. For instance, the researchers should use computer models and on the other hand, instead of using the whole animal, they should use cell cultures.

According to this ethics, people should avoid using animal products for instance leather shoes as it leads to extinction of certain animal species. References Hinman, Lawrence M. Ethics. Fort Worth, TX: Harcourt Brace College Publishers, 2008. Print.
