All forms of government welfare should be abolished. What is government welfare? Government welfare is that benefit a society gets for those who are need and cannot earn their living themselves. (Marsh, 5).The question here arises whether government welfare should be abolished after all or not. Unfortunately I believe that this act of generosity by the government should be stopped. The process which involves government welfare is basically a method devised by the government to gather money from the hardworking, self-reliant working class of the state and regenerate that money to those people who are in need. So many at this point might argue that it is unfair to deprive those people who are in need and do not have their own resources to do so. But the problem with carrying on these aids is that it has paralyzed the people. Since easy money is earned through these welfare programs there are many people here who are not willing to even work a day for their bread and butter. Hence it is justified that those people who are not benefiting the society in any way should not receive any such benefits. The reason why I believe that government welfare should be abolished is because of its misusage. It has been abused drastically in recent times as it hampers the progress of the working class of our society and also it preaches immorality. How is government welfare being abused? There are many ways through which this facility provided by the government is being abused even though there have been protections placed and filtering has been initiated in the recent times. A great example of abusing this facility is when mothers give birth to children just so that they can surplus the amount they receive from the government which increases their welfare checks. There are many perspectives from which we can view this, firstly women who give birth to babies considering it to be attractive as they get the charm of spending the money on themselves. Secondly, those women who bore many children and are dependent on aid are considered to be a bad choice. (DuBois, 619). This is one of the biggest problems with our prevailing system; this is the charm which encourages women to become pregnant as it brings a raise of amount in their welfare money each month, which becomes a very good amount annually. Thus these benefits provided by the government are being brutally abused when the money that is provided by government is not used to nurture the infant born. This greed does not end here but continues when such mothers who give birth on a constant pace and are completely relying on the aid provided by the government to sustain their living. This system was developed to help the people who are in need but now it has been adopted by many individuals who cannot get over the addiction of free income. This develops a negative approach as well which encourages such people not to look for work opportunities as that would deprive them from their free earning. The purpose behind establishing welfare aid programs was to help the needy during their difficult times not to generate lifelong income. (Segal, 10) The government has particularly made these welfare systems very engaging, they act as a catalyst in stopping people from work who were initially motivated and self-dependent. This system will continue till the time those people who are unemployed become motivated to earn their own living than being dependent on the government programs. This system is merely a curse which restricts people from hard work and physical labor and eventually sucks the money out of the hardworking people. Why such programs are a risk to progress? One of the many reasons why the government should stop such welfare programs as the requirements that are set on checks are cause immense strain on the government programs that are merely for the working class. The major and the most precise example of this is the social security. The money that is being used by such welfare programs is extracted from the working class. It is pretty saddening that a huge amount of money that is earned by the working class which can be saved to be deposited for the time of their own retirement is apparently used by those random people who are not working and have just devised a way to gather an easy living. Thus these welfare programs will not hamper the sovereignty of individuals if they are not abused and used honestly by the ones in need. (Cozic, 143) What is the outcome of such welfare programs? Hence government welfare is a very limited benefit that can be provided for a short period of time because at one point the government will be short on resources itself. If such people who disguise to be needy and do not work despite they get opportunities then there are likeable chances that even those who deserve will be badly affected. Researches show that such people who get free money and are living on the aid of others lose the urge to earn and even if they get opportunities to survive through their hard work they would not prefer to do so. Likewise, it is unfair to those who are working to earn their own for their livelihood. What is the conclusion? Personally I believe that such aid programs by the government should be canceled as those who portray themselves as needy are not exactly the ones in need. These people who fake need are the ones who are responsible for its abuse. These fake people not only deprive the people who are actually in need but also damage the resources which are being used for the wrong purpose. These programs are responsible to destroy the concept of hard work and propagate the concept of easy money. Thus for these reasons aid programs should finish.
