Other European settlers followed the early Dutch like the British who established their own colonies such as the Connecticut Colony, Saybrook Colony, and the New Haven Colony. The state today has about 3.6 million inhabitants only, making it the 30th populous state but curiously, the fourth most densely-populated state because of its small size (ranked 48th). Its population had declined slightly or remained steady over the years due to its high cost of living resulting in outward migration. Based on the latest census figures available last 2010, Connecticut has the highest per-capita income in the United States of America due to the presence of many finance-related companies such as the famous hedge-fund firms which pay fantastic salaries to its qualified people, giant insurance firms and other finance services.

Both its median household income and human development index (HDI) are very high and it is considered a wealthy state although the income gap between its urban and rural areas is also dismally unusually quite high. The present population of Connecticut is majority white at 78% (71% non-Hispanic whites and 7% white Hispanics) with mixture of other ethnicities. Discussion The rest of the population is composed of 10% blacks or African-Americans, 4% Asian, 0.3% Alaskan or Indian natives, and the remainder is composed of many other races.

The state used to be 98% white back in 1940 but this has declined to only 71% by 2010. The state is still considered as ethnically and culturally diverse but not as diverse when compared to other big metropolitan areas like New York, Boston, or Philadelphia. However, the state has exerted efforts to make the place supportive of cultural diversity by implementing measures to make people of all races and ethnicities feel most welcome. This paper lists below the Internet links of six community resources in Connecticut which support cultural diversity.

There are a lot of people who want to make Connecticut a culturally-diverse but peaceful place. There are also many other resources dedicated solely to certain activities only, such as for worship. The mission of this group is to help fellow Filipinos in America but especially those within the areas of Western Connecticut, Litchfield and Fairfield County. The other important mission is to help their countrymen in the Philippines which is a Third World country, and faces a lot of problems such as high rate of poverty, massive corruption and often frequent natural disasters such as the numerous typhoons which hit the country every year.
