In my endeavors, I happened to meet a correctional officer by the name of James who refused to disclose to me his full names. The officer gave me a warm reception and the interview was nice and quick, though it was disrupted as the officer was on duty. Therefore he needed to attend to some offenders as I interviewed him. James works for the Sussex I State prison. This correction facility was started back on May 20, 1998. It is located in Sussex State, Virginia. The specific location is at Keith W.

Davis Warden, 24414 Musselwhite Drive, Waverly, VA 23891-1111 (804) 834-9967. This prison has a very important role in the adult criminal justice system as it is a reception and classification facility. Its major role is to intake offenders from the major jails around and merges them into the department. Inmates who are housed here are classified into different security levels. It includes all offenders with long-term, single, multiple and even life sentences. An offender is required to show no disruptive behavior for at least 24 months for them to be transferred to a less secure facility.

Starting from the present, the officer has been working as a corrections officer at the Sussex I State Prison in March this year. . He is also charged with determining problems of the inmate using his special listening and communication skills. Since October 2010 to March this year, James has worked as a correction officer at the Central Virginia Correction Facility-Chesterfield, VA. Here, his duty was to check Ids for persons entering and leaving the facility as well as searching them. He had to write narrative reports about events that took place at his job place about confidential issues, incident, and disciplinary reports.

He maintained cell reports, switched swift files and activity logs. He also had a duty of transporting convicts to the correctional facility.
