The element of conflict does come in because encoding and decoding processes are not taking place in a manner that is deemed as appropriate at both the ends. Also, this implies for the fact that there are wrong perceptions being developed of the sender who is actually transmitting the messages through the communication channels, be it in the form of messages sent through email, text, chat, blogs, phone or video chat. What remains very significant in such settings is how well the message is being relayed and what kind of implication it is taking along with it all this while.

To quote a few examples, I personally make use of chat acronyms whenever I send text messages. When I am text messaging my friends, I do employ these acronyms and shortcodes within the words but when I text message my elders or people who are aged, then I make sure that my language clarity is impeccable and without any errors so that the latter do not get any other meaning from the one that I sent their way. Professionally, I always make sure that my messages are written in a formal tone, making the best use of the English language so that the clarity and appropriateness aspects remain highly prioritized within the messaging that is being done. 2. How do the influences on perception (physiological or cultural differences, social roles, self-concept, and gender) affect those mediated misperceptions/conflict?

Cite specific examples from your personal, academic or professional experiences. Perceptions could vary from physiological to psychological, can comprise of cultural differences, social roles, self-concept and gender-related issues. But what is most important here is how well these perceptions are shaping up into beliefs. Then only one can gain the idea of properly comprehending the influences which are made up essentially. One must remember that the influences on perception affect the mediated misperceptions/conflicts because there has to be a set pattern for everything that is being followed by such levels.

Perceptions need to be aligned in such a way that people do not feel that there is any missing link when the talk goes out loud regarding the fragments of those very perceptions. The mediated misperceptions/conflicts would not bear any fruit because these are looked upon at with a sense of doubt which is not a very good thing within such contexts of communication (Axley, 1996). As far as examples are concerned, from a personal point of view, mediated misperceptions/conflicts might arise when there are self-defined attitudes towards modes of communication and how the messages within such communicatory domains would be perceived.

This would mean that there is historical insight on the part of the individual who is actually encoding as well as the other person who is decoding the entire process. From a professional setting, what is most significant is how well the perceptions are being drafted and what kind of attitudes are coming out as a result of the same. There must be academic situations in a person’s life that need his understanding and my example derives from the fact that my comprehension of the language has changed drastically ever since such communication mechanisms have been made use of. 3. Describe how mediated communication channels might help or hinder the brainstorming process.
