PLANNING AND ORGANIZATION During the summer after graduating from the high school I decided to do internship. I got appointedas an intern at Bates Advertising. It was my first paid internship. Since it was my first internship I was pretty much excited and a little bit nervous as well. Anyhow I was appointed, as an intern and I had to face whatever comes in my way. On the first day itself I was struck by the problems. The supervisor assigned me a project and should be completed at any cost by the end of summer.

As an insult to the injury he didn't gave me enough specifications. My responsibilities were to give presentation and compare the service standards of different mobile phone company retail shops. I was a little bit nervous because it's the first time I'm going to handle a project independently. The challenges in front of me were to do the project independently which I had never done before and I have no idea about the mobile phone company retail shops. Moreover the supervisor didn't give me any specifications regarding the project and what should be the outcome of it.

Whatever the challenges might be I was ready to face them and decided to work hard to prove my ability. So I started working on my project. During the first phase I started to gather information regarding mobile phone business. I studied about them, and to understand their activities I visited couple of stores. The result was I had a project plan, objectives scope and program of the study. During this stage I sought supervisor's help and he gave me some important suggestions. In the second phase I prepared a questionnaire following the advice of my supervisor to evaluate the important aspects of my study.

I started to visit retail shops as a shopper to get an overview about their ways of doing the business. During my visits I gathered information that are required for my project study. The requirements involved what sort of services they were offering, what standards were being maintained, how the customer requirements were being met, what the staff knows about the services provided by the phone companies, the price, how the phones are displayed, gathering information from printed brochures, how the shops were decorated to attract the customers, locality of the shops, spatial utilization, etc.

From above points I prepared a power point presentation. The above findings reflect my ability to organize things and fast learning capacity. In a short span of time I learned how mobile phone company retail shops works. The final outcome was I impressed the department heads with my presentation and findings. They were so impressed with my performance that they invited me to give the presentation directly to our client, which is a local mobile phone company. At the time of the completion of the project I was a confident person.
