Their purpose is to screen the domestic violence and to suggest a plan in order to protect the victims safely. Research has indicated that social, health and economic cost in relation to domestic violence requires attention for intervention and identification. Their purpose is to create economic control in the country. History of social workers Researchers concluded that social workers have been working for the victims of domestic violence for years in the courts, shelters and emergency rooms. Domestic violence has been impossible to measure in the last eras, because there were numerous complications i.e. mainly it was the societal stigma which stopped the victim from revealing the abuse. It was a menace for the society. Repots in relation to health care indicated that in 2000, around 960,000 incidents of violence mainly occurred due to boyfriends or former spouse and around 3.9 million women’s were either raped or assaulted physically by her partner. This enables the need of social workers and other professionals to help in screening the health care of citizens on daily basis. From 1970’s to 1990’s, social workers profession was considered as uninformed, uncaring and unhelpful to the battered women. They were failing to recognize problems in relation to abuse. However, in 2000, studies revealed that social workers are finding ways to decrease domestic violence and are assisting the victims to get justice (Danis & Lockhart, 2003). Roles of social workers Social workers help to improve people’s life. Domestic violence is one of the significant factors for anxiety, depression and abuse for women’s and children’s. Social workers provide services to the victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. They perform various roles such as counseling, leading, supporting through shelter programs across the country, providing court advocacy through service agencies, counseling through private practices, organizing efforts to prevent domestic violence in the country. They provide services to the victims through court mandated and voluntary programs. A professional commitment of social workers is justice to domestic violence. They serve as a community education coordinators i.e. a community is formed consisting of staff of social workers. These persons are liable to provide all types of education in relation to domestic violence and training to the citizens to efficiently deal with such situations.
