Extract of sample "Major Issues of the Process of Socialization"

Socialization is involved in the search for consensus and thus facilitates social cohesion: it is the example of the return of political socialization deemed essential to community life through citizenship training, training provided by schools in particular.

Socialization is not a mere repetition of social life: it does not prevent social change. The learning process is not a simple linear transmission, not a mere reproduction of what is acquired. The exchange between the socialized and the socializing is an interaction that highlights the active role of socialized: it has an ability to interpret what they learn, be challenged, and he proposed action on socializing him itself.

During the twentieth century, there may be some increase in socializing agents involved in the construction of the identity of each individual, helping to develop social relationships. There is also a trend to a plurality of circles of belonging and thus forms of socialization: this is the example of the child who goes to nursery and school earlier and earlier. One can also note in particular the place and role of the media today in the socialization of individuals.
