The profit responsibility to investors is high because the company maintains a high margin in selling certain organic products and not using Fair Trade labels which are cheaper. The community has been asking for organic products and health foods to be carried in the store but the store responded by carrying only limited items with high margin. This only means that the store only secures its profit, and has no concern the needs of customers. And so it rated as medium.In terms of community relation, it is also low because they have no concern and short of a commitment to the community wherein they do business with. Company Q closed two shops in the high crime area because it is reportedly losing money. It did not say that the reason for losing is due to crime. It could be something else that is not disclosed in the case.At this end, we presume that the company is only profit motivated and it is not a socially motivated company.The company should not turn down the request for a donation of day old products. Instead of throwing it away, the company could show their concern to the community by donating it. This way, the company helps in the development and the people will feel that they are true neighbors. People return favors because it is a form of social exchange and it is called reciprocity. People keep account of helpful and hurtful actions, that include own company’s action and others. This kind of exchange “holds the community together and forms the basis of a broader Morality”.

Social responsibility also refers to a company’s obligation to maximize its positive impact while minimizing its negative impact on the society (William & Ferrel, 2011, p. 94). The International Institute of Sustainable Development explains that social responsibility is a term without a single authoritative definition.
Most companies have, therefore, made it a practice to incorporate responsibility towards the society and the environment as part of their routine business. This notion of corporate social responsibility has been heavily debated on in recent years so much so that researchers have called into question the existence of the “social” aspect in “corporate social responsibility”.
This historically unprecedented development has led to new ethical quandaries, especially addressed toward the business corporations that actively perpetrate such values and lifestyles that favour their bottom lines.
