In most cases, women get referred to as prostitutes since they get the bigger percentage of the people who are mostly in that business. However, the prostitute populace also includes transgendered persons and men.
Feminists for Free Expression is a feminist group, founded in January 1992, and works to establish and protect an individual’s right to see, hear and give her own materials without the state interfering. They believe in women empowerment. The main reason for its formation was in response to issues that had risen due to the banning of books, movies and music believed to be too exposing. FFE believed that these were just diversions from the real causes of social ills. FFE provides a leading voice opposing state and legislation against expression; support the rights of artists with suppressed or censored work. They offer expert speakers to the media throughout the country.” (Feminists For Free Expression)
FFE is in favor of decriminalization of prostitution. They are in support of this because they believe that the prostitute will improve themselves and that it will develop self-help. It will help nurture responsibility, pride and empower individuals. “The current laws that prohibit prostitution only work to create a group of people referred to as the pimps who just live on the prostitutes in the name of protecting them and giving them jobs” (Feminists For Free Expression). In the real sense, they are just taking away their earnings while paying the peanuts and treating them like slaves.
The existing laws address the issue like the quality of life, trafficking and youth slavery and morality. When the authorities impose crackdowns on the prostitutes, all they do is make them shift to another area. They are the ones that always end up in arrested leaving the ones that seek their services to walk freely which leaves the question of how fair are
