Sociologists who adopt the conflict perspective view education as a means to maintain the status quo and according to them, while the poor have been encouraged to believe that the major goal of schooling is to create equality that is just myth perpetuated by the dominant classes. The idea that education is available for all does not factor in the fact that despite there being no specific barriers to accessing education. A person only gets a better education as he can afford with his income. Children in the upper and middle classes in addition to coming from comfortable and secure homes, will go to high cost private primary schools and high schools and as such increase their chances to join public and private universities, generally getting a better quality education and better lifestyles.

Conversely, poor children do not have it easy since even coming to school they are exposed to physiological and psychological problems based on their exposure to hardships. Sue Books (2004) comments that poor children are exposed to the worst conditions fathomable, from health services hence ill health, insecurity overcrowded homes and poverty they then attend the public schools in the worst conditions. In retrospect, society and the job market would accommodate even high school graduates. The unemployment rates further cause the people to spend and invest in higher education such as masters and PhDs to be more competitive. It is suggested in (The American prospect, Para 13).

In the future despite the fact that jobs for people with high school diplomas and collage degrees graduates may still be available, there is no guarantee the will reduce poverty due o their poor quality. These locks out the lower classes who cannot afford the postgraduate courses from the job market in posterity, as result, the lifestyle of children from rich families are likely to improve while the poor ones will remain the same or get worse since while upper class children would most likely live a comfortable life with or without
