Topic: Western and traditional cultures Introduction Culture is a form of value, knowledge and behavior shared by a society. Culture creates the difference between people from various societies all around the world as it is diverse. There are many forms of cultures. Traditional and the western cultures are the two major forms of cultures that influence a population of people around the world. Traditional cultures are conserved by every community globally (Maynard. 2004. Pg 15).. This is because they are simply the patterns of thinking as well as behavior that people within the same social group tend to share, learn and create.

This aspect creates a boundary between people who practice different cultures. Western culture is preserved to be the modern culture. It is influenced by the drastic change in technology. Many societies transit from traditional to western culture to certify the desire of modern civilization. Traditional cultures are viewed as ancient methods of operation thus people tend to transform to the western culture elements in order to blend with the emerging trends of technology. The main difference between the western and traditional cultures is the level of technology employed in the two forms of cultures.

This notion has led to the suppression of the traditional culture by the western culture. However, there are various mediation processes between the two types of cultures. These processes are aimed at providing a link between the western and traditional cultures. One of the processes is the use of fashion as a link between the two cultures (Maynard. 2004. Pg 27). Many clothing designers blend the traditional form of dressing with the modern forms to produce unique outfits. Tourism is another mediation process used to link the traditional and western forms of cultures.

Many developing countries depend on tourism as one of the major sources of revenue. Communities in these countries use their traditions as a form of tourist attraction thus making it convenient to conserve the traditional cultures.ConclusionIt is important to conserve the traditional cultures as they create a distinction people thus contributing to the spread of ideology which is essential in development. Therefore endorsing traditional cultures as well as accommodating new customs is a fundamental aspect in life.
