A social networking service is an online platform that acts as a ground for building and maintaining a social presence. These sites have a number of advantages regarding a person or an enterprise.Social media is the most effective way of maintaining a social presence in today’s world for a person, and analogously, of maintaining public relations for a company. Social networks like facebook, twitter, Google plus, etc. provide you a virtual dais for you to post your opinions and reviews on anything and everything and even to express your emotions in a digital format.

People can share their interests and activities across any geographical limit. In addition, social networks can help us in connecting with our old friends or colleagues whom we have lost our connection with. We can’t just forget that it was through social media, modern democratic movements around the world got their momentum. The influence of social media among people is crystal clear in this perspective. Companies can maintain direct communication with their customers and customers can also share their queries and reviews on a particular product or service.

They can announce and market their products through social media. Online promotion and viral marketing methods are used by many companies today, for they have come to realize that social media is the best way to attract customers and keep in touch with them. It is also a good mode for governments to announce their welfare policies and schemes and also for people to express their opinions and criticisms on governance. Undeniably, it is the most powerful media of today; clearly, the media of the future too!

It will be very difficult for anyone to find another helpful media in finding information. Social networks provide a free environment for you to share your doubts and clarification with your friends or colleagues. Social networks are of great help when we find it difficult to gather some information directly from the web or through some books. We can also share whenever we have some latest news or knowledge bits and also read updates by others. Going through informative pages in the social networks increases our knowledge substantially and keeps us an updated person.

It can be of great utility for use in connection with our quests on any field, from general knowledge to entertainment to lifestyle!  Social networks have now turned out to be virtual workplaces. Employees of many MNCs today work together sitting in various parts of the world coordinating their work through the internet. This can bring about huge ease to the work and also employees can customize their work time according to their conveniences. For instance, as Hinchcliffe and Kim reflect, companies like MillerCoors initiated social networking technology in 2010 to enhance its workforce and turned out to be a big success (n.p.).

This also provides an opportunity to work directly from homes instead of tying up the belt to the office. Social networks have introduced a big change in the very concept named ‘office’. It also has the advantage of real-time analysis and updating of the work thus providing for faster and efficient outputs from workers for the companies.
