hensive school-based emergency response plan that will need to be approved by the school leadership so that they can be committed and supportive of the process that will adopt a top-down approach. Integral to the undertaking of the project will be the participation of the supervisor of the district, the committee of the school as well as the area’s response teams. I would make sure that there is constant communication with the response teams to ensure that the emergency plans instigated at the school are not in conflict with other efforts that will be already underway (Education.vic.gov.au, 2014). The team that will be charged with creating the school plan shall include the principal, guidance counsellors, the teachers, other staff as well as parents. As I have some experience as far as emergency management is concerned, it will be in charge of the group that will be tasked with the creation of the emergency response plan for the school.
Local governments are the central organizations as far as management of emergencies is concerned since local governments have the main responsibility for public safety that include emergency response after a disaster has taken place. More than seventy-five percent of counties have developed an emergency management agency which is tasked with responding directly to the county authority or is autonomous from the other units within a public safety department. An emergency management team consists of either temporary volunteer staff or full time employees who are remunerated for their services. At most of the head offices of the Emergency Management, the staff that are employed there are on permanent employment terms since there has been an increase in awareness of the need to prepare for disasters and manage emergencies.
