Consequently, the approval of this arrangement would mean that the two communities would begin making preparation for the official function, which would come sooner or later. Of importance to note is Sweet (16) argues that marriage was a serious affair in the society as it confirmed the continuation of creating many more new generations. In light of this, the past generation completely ignored the issue of education, particularly for the girls. If anything, they were expected to do chores back and assist their mothers with kitchen issues while the few lucky boys were allowed to go to school. Once the girls attained a certain age then they were expected to get married.
Unfortunately, in the current generation marriage issues are extremely complicated with most of the young generation preferring to pursue their career and leave the marriage life unattended. Contrary to the previous generation, a higher percentage of young men and women who have presumably attained the marriage age have chosen to remain unmarried or better still have decided to get involved in temporary marriage which might work or not. Personally, I anticipate attaining a Ph.D. level in my academic before I decide to work the marriage issue. I am aware that marriage is a serious social institution.
Equally, my family has been very supportive of both the marriage and career as compared to the past generation where marriage was of more value to the family and society at large as compared to the present.
