People across the world travelled from one place to another place for arranging their livelihoods and educational purposes. Among all the countries in the world USA has welcomed more migrants. Migration has led to diverse society which has rearranged the whole societal context of America. Global migration has increased exponentially. It has brought about cultural diversity and cross cultural situation. People from different ethnic backgrounds and races are involved with this boundary less movements. The trends of extensive migration started after the Second World War. Increasing migration has lead to cross cultural interaction in the same region. Due to the cross cultural situation societal diversity has become a common phenomenon in the global arena. Slowly but surely migration has led to diverse society. Over the time migration has impacted the societies in both ways i.e. positively and negatively. But its contribution towards the societal diversity cannot be ignored. In the modern era of globalization migration is inevitable. This omnipresence factor has sheer reflection on the societal diversities. Here in this essay a detailed discussion and analysis will be done on how the migration has led to increasingly diverse societies. Discussion According to the report of International Labour Organization, in the last two decades organizations across the world have hired significant numbers of the foreign employees. All these foreign employees are belonging different backgrounds in terms of ethnicity, race, education, language and preferences. Under this context societal diversity is an automatic situation. These societal diversity resulted from migration has created lots of issues. Recently Asian migrant’s especially Indian students have faced significant violence in Australia. Often in the diverse societal situations migrants face social discriminations due to their skin colures, languages and cultures. It is often being observed that when migrants leave their home countries and settle in the foreign countries, always carry their cultures with them. Over the years this has caused various issues. Migrants have been physically attacked by the native people and sometimes they have been killed by the attackers. These are all results of the societal diversity. Recently one survey has revealed that, 42% of Indian has faced racial discriminations in Australia. There are lots of psychological factors related with the increasingly diverse societies. It creates a sense of insecurity in the minds of the native people. Various reports have categorically identified that, local people often think that with the inflow of global migrants their opportunities related with employments, education and societal power are reducing. This sense of insecurity makes them desperate. Out of their desperations they try to discriminate migrants. According to the American Bureau of the Census, migration has led to diverse American society. According to their data, Hispanics and other minority racial groups account for 20% of the total American population (Hirschman and Perez, 2009). Racial and ethnic issues are very common in diversified society. In the last few years migration has attracted lots of attention. The reasons are quite obvious. Migration has significant societal impacts on the host countries. It has both positive and negative impacts. Generally people migrate from one country to another for the expectation of better futures. In a recent Federal report it has been categorically stated that, almost 700,000 people migrate in the country each year. The effect of such extensive inflow of foreign people has made the American society increasingly diversified. Before the Second World War societies were less diversified in nature. After that period of time globalization concept came into the picture. Slowly migration increased and became the fundamental source of the social diversity. It is often being noticed that migrants come across the world and settle down to a particular country. They generally adapt the local culture and make them alien with the local cultural situations. On the other hand some migrants create their own entity and societal identifications. All these factors have contributed towards the societal diversity. Inflow of the migrants can bring lots of changes in the societal context. Generally languages, working cultures, food habits and skin colours of the migrants vary from the native people. Often these migrants are considered as the minority communities in the host nations. Over the years Governments of those host nations have identified those migrants as the potential vote banks. To foster the huge vote banks Government across the world have come up with lots of extra facilities for those migrants. All these felicitations from the various governments have helped the migrants to cement their places in the foreign countries. This is also a possible reason through which migration has led to increasingly diversified society. During the creation of Bangladesh, lots of Muslim migrated into India and they settled down in the nearby state of West Bengal. That migration situation totally changed the societal outlooks of the state. People who migrated from Bangladesh used to speak in different accent and their religion believes were also different. It caused significant issues in the society. The state witnessed riots between the native majority Hindu people and Muslims migrated from Bangladesh. This issue is clearly indicating that migration causes lots problems. It sometimes hampers the societal balance also. Migration is not at all a new concept. It has significant presence in the history of human civilization also. It has been observed that even the societies of ancient Greece and Rome were highly diversified due the migration from the nearby states (Chiswick, Polachek and Rapoport, 2006). In those days also varying ethnicity and race related issues were present. Over the years the migration movements have been changed. Currently migration movement are from low income countries to high income countries. According to a survey, in each year almost 2.3 million people from developing countries migrate to developed nations. People from India, China, Africa and Latin America are travel to OECD countries in search of better living conditions. It creates significant cultural diversities in those countries. Migration changes the demography of whole society. It has been observed that large and prominent cities across the world are the major attractions for the global migrants (Hickman, Mai and Crowley, 2012). Generally these kinds of cities are having far more multi dimensional facilities. All these multidimensional facilities have attracted inflow of migrants across the world. These inflows of migrants have made those cities centres of excellence as far as the arts, culture, creativities and innovations are concerned (Koopmans, 2005). Slowly but steadily immigrants have circulated their own cultural networks in the host countries. As the day progressed all the foreign cultures were adapted by the home countries. These have resulted in highly diversified societies. Often these migrations have not been taken in a right spirit by the native people. Migrated people have faced lots of social discrimination and even they faced manhandling. It has been observed that in the various occasions’ people of the host countries take significant prides for their races and ethnicities and consider them superior to other races. They try to dominate the society. For dominating the society they often assault the migrants physically and mentally. On the other hand migrants also make the society enrich. Over the years migrants have brought about fresh ideas and concepts for enriching the societal dynamics (Rampersad, 2007). It is being observed that many African Americans now celebrate Christmas and Kwanzaa together. By this American society is getting significant benefits. Migration causes inflow of varying ethnicities, due to the combination of varying ethnicities, over the years societal fabrics have been changed considerably. This massive change has brought about massive social inequalities. Results are very obvious, increasing trends of spatial segregation. This increasing trend of diversified society has given birth of the extensive polarisation as far as the ethnicity and race is concerned (Crisp, 2011). Sometimes people of the host nations cannot tolerate the presence of the migrants. It has caused several racial conflicts between the natives and migrants in USA, UK and Australia. Over the time migration has depicted the society in unique way. In their day to day normal lives migrants have tried to showcase their original cultural practices and ethnic believes (Robins, 2006). This process of show casing has been continued consistently. In some of the cases societies have welcomed all the societal diversities and in many cases society did not welcomed it. Where society welcomed the migrants in those places diversities have been introduced peacefully. On the other hand where migrants have not been welcomed and discriminated on the basis of ethnicities and races, those places diversities are not at all peaceful. But one thing is common and cannot be ignored i.e. migration has led to increasingly diverse society (Kornbeck and Jensen, 2009). In most of the cases food habits of the migrants vary from the people of the host countries (Reynolds, 2007). It has been observed that to cater the food requirements of the migrated people new restaurants have come up in the societies. In these kinds of restaurants migrants can get their preferred foods. This factor has contributed significantly in the context of societal diversifications. Over the years migrants have come up with varying clothing styles and fashions. They have carried out their clothing styles in the hosts nations also. This has changed societal outlooks of the recipient countries. It has been observed that often local people get influenced with the clothing styles of the migrants and they have tried to replicate the clothing styles. In this way slowly foreign cultures have made their places in the host nations. Over the years by incorporating all the varying foreign ideas, societies of the host nations have become much more diverse in nature. Migration and societal diversities are significantly interrelated with each other (Banks, 2012). Every society has its own cultures, norms, ethnicities and races. Generally in a migration free society all those factors are homogenous in nature. Over the years migrations have brought about heterogeneousness in all those factors. All the heterogeneousness caused increasingly diverse societies across the world. Racial diversity created lots of problems in South Africa. Migrated white skin people dominated majority of native African citizens. Skin colour of the native African people was black. They faced lots of societal discriminations. They encountered poor societal treatments from the white skin people of the nation (Strumia, 2013). It caused extreme racial polarisations in the country. South African society witnessed lots of bloodsheds. This issue is clearly indicating the negativity of increasingly diverse societies caused by the migration. It is often being noticed that students migrate across the world for the educational excellence. Over the years students have gone for foreign educations and stayed in those foreign countries for the longer period of time. This kind of migration also has contributed significantly towards the diversification of the society. All the above discussions and arguments have clearly analyzed the various ways through which migration led to increasingly diverse societies. Conclusion Migration is an age old phenomenon. Day by day with the increasing trends of the migrations global societies are encountering significant diversities. Diversities out of migrations have become a continuous process. But diversities due to the migrations often have not been the smooth experiences for the societies. Migration causes culmination of varying cultural backgrounds, ethnicities and races. All these factors have contributed significantly in the societal diversity. Migration has led to the inflow of foreign people from different countries. All those foreign people bring various kinds of new ideas and concepts with them and they apply all those ideas and concepts into the host countries. The study has categorically indicated various ethnic and racial issues caused due to migration. The study has suitably indicated positive and negative aspects of increasing diversities caused by migration. The study has provided enough insights related with the migration and its impacts on the societal diversities. The above paper is indicating that migration has multidimensional contributions towards the increasingly diversified societies.
