Not in positive sciences but also in normative and other discipline of studies human body has always gain attention from scientists and researchers. So in sociology a whole new separate term “sociology of body” was proposed which helped people to understand the function and behavior of body in respect to social life. So more precisely speaking sociology of body is actually a branch of sociology which studies the social use and behavior of body in modern societies.
Sociology of body with reference to public life can be discussed in numerous ways and many heavy terms have been introduced by scientists to study body connection with various social aspects of our lives like body building, sex therapy, use of food, management of body and many other terms. But three aspects which are very much intertwined and correlated with body and public life are illness, disease and sexuality.
It is common and everyday sight that we are surrounded by the consumer culture images of bodies like in television, newspapers, magazines, movies, the internet, street advertisement, screens etc. Not only this bit posters of celebrities and stars and digital enhanced bodies of models in advertisement has increase the competition of most sexually attracted bodies all across the world. That’s why we’ve seen an abnormal increase in the percentage of sexual attraction in the past few decades. Also the rate and percentage of body comparison, anxieties, imperfections and investment in the body has showed drastic increase. Sociologist says that the bombardment of the images of body proliferate in billboards, workplaces and daily work lives has increased an average man philosophy of ‘to look great’ to a very high level. Now ‘the look good, feel good’ makeover logic linked to fantasies of good life. Only due to our social behavior and preferences of having a good body, non-surgical treatment is now considered as a billion dollar industry all across the globe.
