A slight or great contrast between principles of life of various groups can cause the reason of subconscious misunderstanding, and as a result some negative feeling like hate, for example, and the infringement of their rights. Let’s take a look at peculiarities of White Americans’ attitude towards such races as Native Americans and African Americans (on the base of the stories from the life of its representatives), and we’ll consider what we can do for improvement of the situation.
I want to begin with the White Americans’ vision of other groups’ life in the USA. As representatives of a dominant paradigm in their majority they believe that there is no people’s discrimination in modern America because its government tries to do its best for everyone’s life to become better regardless of skin color, religion or position in society. Due to their belief in the sanctity observance of laws and the principle of respect for other nations and nationalities, the idealization of democratic society can’t help White Americans to open their eyes and see the real position of things. Unfortunately there are people who have created in their heads the cultural stereotype of superiority of Americans with white skin comparing to other races, so they can afford themselves to manifest it in all spheres of life by the oppression of other people. Though we are talking about a small percentage of such people at the state level, this is a clear indicator that the race still may determine the attitude to people in a good or bad way. For realizing the obstacles and struggles which humans of different sub-groups are faced with we can examine some peculiarities of their lives on example of Native Americans and African Americans who have been mentioned above already.
