Thesis statement: Impression Management in action; the relation between the use of Impression Management strategies and interpersonal outcomes will be investigated by analyzing and observing self in two different situations. Everyone exercises impression management. More often we do so it more actively than other times, but however I believe that every time we are in social situations, impression management is nearly unavoidable. In our daily lives, we unconsciously manage the way we look and react based on our social surroundings, no matter it is at school, home, work, the subway, or the book store, for example. In different situations, we maintain our actions and our dress more consciously in order to create certain desired results. An example from daily life of this kind of active impression management could be a job interview where first impressions are the important ones and we often want to represent ourselves as a certain type of person or possible employee. In many cases, impression management is an essential and accepted social pattern, while in some cases it can be in use to the position where some may call it unfair misrepresentation.
