In addition, fluency in English, Spanish, Pacific and other Indo-European languages was investigated by using the term “very well” to enable the researcher establish the fluency.
Based on the data, a total of 2,443,000 children have difficulty in speaking English. For a nation whose English is the official language, the number is quite big. The population of children having difficulties speaking English could be fluent in the other languages. To deal with the problem, it is proposed that the students are encouraged to speak English at home. It is further recommended that children are discouraged from speaking their native languages at school to improve their fluency in the English language.
