Genie (Secret of the Wild Child) The clip Genie (Secret of the Wild Child) explores a unique case of an isolated child for over a decade. The doctors that work with Genie are carrying out many tests that are beneficial to science and the researchers rather than the child (Everywhere Psychology 0:20). The goals projected for the research on the Wild Child are numerous and could see the kid’s life being intruded. For instance, Rigler confirms that he does not want to harm the child with the numerous proposed measurements, he only wants to carry out measurements that could benefit both the researchers and the child.

It is wrong to congest the child with lots of tests, this is total interruption to the child’s life. For example, Susan Curtiss subjects Genie to many tests on a daily basis to complete her dissertation. Rigler confirms that Genie’s case is complicated because there are no control experiments. Therefore, it is brutal to subject the kid to frequent tests. Additionally, the Rigler draws funds from various sources to subject the case into various studies and tests but the resources are diverted for personal benefits.

Effective treatment needs to be sequential. The persons under tests should be allowed enough time to show adjustments to the treatments administered. It is clear from the clip that too many tests are administered over a short period. The situation makes it difficult for the doctors to make correct and accurate inferences. Good research and treatment programs should focus on the health of the persons under study and must have control experiments. It would turn futile to examine a single case without a reference point.

Human infants neither have a language or a culture. During the socialization process, the infants acquire a language of culture and the roles to play. For instance Genie faces isolation and thus fails to acquire a language. Further, the kid is exhibiting a range of characteristics that are unique compared to the normal cases. It is vital to subject children to the process of specialization.Work CitedEverywhere Psychology. Genie (Secret of the Wild Child). You tube Clip. August 29, 2012. Web. April 20, 2015.
