There are many who cannot live without their cell phones, their day starts and ends with it (109). The author wants to show the negative influence that mobile phone on the lives of many stating the facts and figures in order to prove what he claims.
The author has researched on the positive effects that this gadget has on the personal lives, economics and society. In order to do so he conducted a research and subdivided into three fields; relationship at primary and personal levels, society and economy.
The author has divided these advantages into 6 C’s i.e., connection, convenience, charisma, companionship, care and culture. The first and foremost advantage of using mobiles phones is that it increases communication among people. It is because of these gadgets that friends, family and colleagues remain connected to each other no matter how far the distance. It also provides entertainment to the user in the form of music, videos and games. People can easily surf the internet, search through stuff easily. The third is charisma wherein the user can create an image of themselves in the eyes of others, because the type of cell phone which is being used by a person also represents the status of that person, Companionship is when the cell phone provides entertainment. Mobile phones also help in providing care to yourself and to the family or relatives, parents can keep track of their children on one click with the help of this technology. It also provides care in the form of disaster management in certain circumstances where people need mobiles phones to inform other of what has happened and to inform them of their safety. Mobile phones have now also become a part of culture especially in the lives of young adults (26). They have spent enormous funding for stem cell research, which will help cure degenerative disorders. Even national policy has been effected to where funding for research into stem cells has been occurring.
