Suicide or mutilation Suicide has been having been defined by many as the act of causing bodily harm to yourself with the intention of causing an end to your life. It can also be said as the death caused by self-directed injurious behavior with the intention to die It does not matter whether you are of sound mind or insane as long as your intention is to end your life. Suicide is caused by several factors that are either internal factor like the state of your mental soundness stress etc.

External social factors like temperature, profound influence. Mental disorders This is a condition where person cognitive abilities have been impaired by either sickness or natural causes like genes from the family line. It can also be as a result of traumatic brain injury, a mother exposure to toxic chemicals when she was pregnant or increased use illegal drugs. It causes either suffering or poor ability to function in ordinary life. Mental disorders include a broad range of problems including depression, bipolar disorder, mood disorder, personality disorder, schizophrenia, and anxiety disorder (Fosse, 2006).

The society is always inclined to think that a person is committing suicide as a mentally weak person. It is usually in the case of suicide bombers who are influenced by extremists. Suicide also takes away important members of our society because of either too much stress (Wolf & Zuckerman, 2012). Other times the social response is total support for the recovery of the person trying to commit suicide by offering advice to the victim and all that. Help in suicide cases is an in plenty because society views this cases as correctable.

The society sees mental disorders with a lot of prejudice like making fun of mental disorder patients. Even the issue of mental disorder, patients being kept away in asylums and mental health hospitals, so they limit their interactions with the rest of the society is minimal. The control theory applies to the suicide topic. This theory involves the idea of two systems that are either internal controls or remote controls that work against our tendencies to deviate. The theory talks about the weak bonds societies have towards each other.

The stronger the bonds, the less a person is going to deviate from social norms. If the bonds are weak, the person tends to deviate from social standards and engage in ill social activities like crimes (Falk, 2010). Strain theory also applies to both of the two topics; this theory states that some social structure within the society may push a person to commit a crime. The strain is in two which are Structural where a weakness in the authority can drive a person to commit a crime The individual strain is how a person on her experience has struggled to find ways to satisfy his or her needs (Cullen & Wilcox, 2010).

Labeling theory is the theory of self-identity and individuals behaviors. States that people perceived themselves the way they are labeled by other persons. Regarding suicide, people tend to be more suicidal if that’s what the society will keep on labeling them. Mentally ill people will tend to believe they have mental problems if that what it is going to be fed into their heads. The process of recovery becomes slow. These two articles about suicide and mental disorders have brought forward the hard facts about the cause of the two conditions.

Suicide is a deviant condition, but mental disorders are not. The strain theory is the best as it has pointed out that the society is the cause of this type of conditions, and the paper agrees with it (Clinard, & Meier, 2015).
