Abortion Arguments on Pro Choice - Essay Example

Abortion can be referred to as an accidental end of a pregnancy or ending a pregnancy by choice. The issue of legalization of abortion has been supported by a number of a factors especially by women who claim to be discriminated in making certain life and death decisions. Before analyzing the factors that support legalization of this support, it is of paramount importance to consider a number of facts about abortion that were collected by Meenaz, (2008 available online)
1. 7% of the abortion cases are as a result of health problems to the baby or mother, rape and incest while 93% are attributed to social reasons.
2. 50% of the ladies who carry out abortion are below 25 years of age.
3. 60% of those who carry out abortion are usually not married.
4. The decision on whether to abort, nurture the baby or offer it fro adoption is normally very complicated and in many cases, it results to post abortion trauma.
Though this essay focuses on the factors that call for legalization and practice of abortion, it is important to consider both sides of the coin.
The pro-life argue that abortion should not be made legal because of the following reasons. First, it denies an infant a chance to live; this is the major reason why most religions denounce it. Many women also use it as a method of controlling birth. This is usually contributes to irresponsible sexual behavior since the pro choice can have abortion as many times as possible.
