The Role of Fathers on Contemporary Families

ctors should seek to focus on getting both uninvolved and runaway fathers to take up financial responsibility for their children via stringent child support policies or enforcement (Coleman & Ganong, 2004). Truthfully, this can help reduce the cases of problems that come along with lack of father presence in a child’s life. Further, they can reduce the problems associated with absence of the male parental figure in a family. Although facts state that modern fathers have a need to share the responsibilities of bringing up a child with their wives, it is still not clear whether this aspect increases marital happiness (Fagan & Palm, 2004). Nevertheless, some assumptions have a whole lot of truth in them thus; very few analysts question the essence of a father sharing responsibilities with a wife. Fathers should consider their presence and directions as suitable in nurturing the emotional well-being of their young ones.
This paper makes a conclusion that it is believable that times have changed and so does either the patterns of parenting as well as the roles taken by either parent in a family. Consequently, it has become tangible that fathers should provide societal learning and acquisition of social knowledge through the usual things both parents engage in on their daily basis. This appears so because specialists believe that children are good receptors of socialization works provided by both parents. In addition, research findings maintain that children who grow up in family that has a working mother and an egalitarian labour division develop a significant quest for a work in the future. This means that a father’s presence, which gives a mother an opportunity to work, is very vital in the growth of a child’s social, economic, and historical mind and behaviour. ...Show more
