Communication is a very important aspect of an individual’s life. Humans communicate with different people in every aspect of life. Individuals tend to hace both verbal communication as well as non verbak communication to state their messages to the concerned party. Communication is also a very important part of business organizations. It has been stated that effective communication is the lifeblood of an organization. An organization needs effective communication at various stages of its business processes to ensure that all the goals and objectives are being achieved by the employees in a successful manner.. Commonly, Communication is also known as a conversation between two individuals or groups. A conversation that one uses to gain a certain objective might be known as effective communication. This term effective communication is a part of communication skills where certain aspects are related to voice the needs and requirements, to propose several points and to gain the desired results. Effective communication is a result of the speaker. Effective communication can be dependent on the ability of a person to communicate. A successful communication is held when the sender and receiver both reach to a common point of understanding related to the same type of information (Mohr & Wolfram, 2008, p. 15). Discussion The need for communication skills is important in almost every field of life. Whether it be the daily life, educational life or the professional career for the individual. One cannot ignore the fact that communication skills are the most important factor to demand and to let others know about certain opinions. Without the communication skills an engineer might not be able to give his view on certain things. In business, the communication skills are important to sell products and gain business. Without communication a company might not be able to gather customers and cater their needs. In almost every organization effective communication skills are required by the company from the employee in order to handle situations that might occur and need to be solved. There are some factors which influence the phenomenon of communication very much and they are as follows: Cooperation Cooperation is considered to be the beauty of communication. It is an ability to benefit from and participate in the setting and relationships, either from social circle or from corporate sector. In dealing with others, one needs to cooperate and demonstrate effective communication skills so that they can effectively work towards the common goals. The manner of responding and approaching others must be considered in order to carry out effective communication. If one has supportive and cooperative relationships, they are more inclined towards communicating useful information to each other. To make communication highly beneficial, effective and strong, the participants need to be cooperative in a good manner. Cooperative and effective communication skills are very much important in all the fields of life. For example, pupils of the school, college and university needs effective and cooperative mode of communications so that they can deliver the best. One must think about the messages they are delivering and the manner in which they are relating to others since positive relationships and effective communication do not take place by chance. At times, unpleasant feeling can result towards misunderstanding, especially in situations where there is a lack or breakdown of communication (Clifton, 2006, p. 203). People will be more likely to communicate cooperatively and effectively if they are comfortable with the defined setting of any place, person, project or assignment in any defined context. Avoidance to each other might occur if people are suspicious of one another and cannot get along with each other comfortably. It is important to consider the ways in which the positive relationships are being developed; as such relationships are not something to be left on the basis of chance. Under this topic, I learned that with effective cooperation and cordination, all communication processes can take place in an effective mode and the desired results can be achieved through proper cooperation and coordination. Without the element of coperation, even simple things may become hard to be conducted. Power Power in a communication process is said to be a conversational bond between two or more persons, if they can manage each other's views, reviews, behaviour or feelings. The conversational affiliation is unbalanced if one or more individual can control the behaviour or opinions of the other individual in a certain respect without the latter person(s) being able to control the former person(s) in the same respect. Thus, a power relationship between the two persons can be unbalanced in one respect and perhaps be inverted or equal in another (Clifton, 2006, p. 203). The element of power in the communication process is widely used to deliver persuasive messages. One can use this power to construct the goodwill of his or her product or profile and it can be used inversely for conducting negative publicity as well. The importance of power holds a vital position in the communication process. Corporate and political leaders adopt this phenomenon of power in their communication while addressing their subordinates and staff. Power can be used perfectly with one way of communication, which allows a leader to give command and orders. The importance of power can be observed in every walk of life. In sports, coach uses his communication abilities and power to boost up and motivate his players; the teacher uses his conversational power to enlighten his students, in short every person on the planet uses his or her power to express his ideas and views. This topic allowed me to reflect srongly on my personality and assess whether I use power while communicating with people that are below me or weaker than me in certain areas. I learnt that power should only be used when required especially in cases of authority. Unnecessary use of power in communication, at times, may hinder the process of effective communication. Gender Communication Almost everyone has an idea of ??how men and women are different in their language, gestures and postures. The fact and philosophies of gender communication and differences are best portrait by Deborah Tannen's (1990) in his book “You Just Do not Understand” and John Gray's book (1992) “Men are from Mars, Woman are from Venus”. Several studies have shown that women disclose more information in conversations and they usually adopt a warmer non-verbal way of communication, and encourage their partners to talk. A number of research studies have come to the conclusion that the most common features of male communication are direct, concise, personal and instrumental, whereas female communication features are indirect, bulky and affective. In the field of non-verbal communication, women coordinate more sharply than males and allow the partner to speak faster while makeing an eye contact and smiling (Castano et.al, 2010, p. 345). A common approach in the study of differences between men and women is the social power position, in which gender differences are seen in a context of social status and power (Clifton, 2006, p. 203). Another classical gender communicational approach stated that “Men are more stutter and lose their language-related capabilities as they get older. Where women have an advantage in terms of communication, men are stronger in following up the space, features arising from the evolution (Joseph, 2008, p. 35). There are a great numbers of advantages of gender communication. The importance of gender communication can be observed critically from the fact that almost all the organizations have female receptionist, female front desk officers, female customer coordinators, female sales staff and female client executives. Corporate sector, most commonly banking and finance sector has worked a lot and emphasized greatly over the phenomenon of gender communication. This topic was a highly interesting topic under the communication subject and it shed light upon the various modes of communication differences in between men and women. It was interesting to know that women's non verbal communication is stronger than men. Hence, it allowed me to learn how to deal with the gender communication aspect in business as well in the personal life. Conclusion In our daily life, we may come across many situations that would allow us to take certain roles and to perform certain tasks that are not related to what we do regularly. A teacher might come across a situation where he has to take a role as a facilitator for team building that is related to various academic or non academic doings. The skills of cooperation and power are some of the skills that are needed to successfully overcome all the situations in the professional and personal life. The need of communication is also depending on the requirement of input from others. The more effectively a person can communicate, the more are the chances of gaining success in performing certain tasks that are being assigned throughout a person’s life (Clifton, 2006, p. 203). Communication is a process that is part of the individual's life, the minute one get's up in the morning, hence improving communication skills and being clear is an important and necessary requirement for all individuals.
