Scientists and biochemists use animals for the sake of experiments and results generalizations. They do not use this source to carry out their experiments because it is the most authentic source to conduct experiments and research instead they just proceed with the process traditionally. Animal testing has been used by several scientists all over the world however some schools of thought are strictly disagreed. They do not agree with animal testing in medicine formation as well as the experiments conducted during genetic engineering. Several scientific and societal hazards have been reported in the near past which made it a matter of consideration. It is to be stated that animal testing and experiment do not offer accurate results because animal models can never be generalized. Scientific literature opposes the concept that animals are pretty necessary for biochemical or genetic research. The wide-spreading awareness is substantial, regarding the disability of animal testing about offering reliable forecasts about human results and validations of models (Martin & Caldwell, 2011). Apart from this, here it faces a new avenue known as hybrid embryonic studies. In these studies, scientists modify the embryos of human beings and the animals that result in hybrid embryos. However, this practice is under the strong bombardment of critiques which are very powerful with respect to society as well as natural science (BBC UK).

Following, we have a brief list stating problems or limitations regarding animal testing or genetic modifications:

  • Ethical Problems: Animals are sentient creatures who provide substantial benefits to society. Experiments through animals may result in a considerable charge on their lives. It has been observed in many cases that scientists try their level best not to take the animals in miserable conditions but on the other hand, they must have to face different sorts of unethical distress. For example, they need to suffer from different diseases, face injuries, are forced to stay in cages, and most important they have to stay in laboratory simulated environments rather than their natural environment gifted by the nature. It is very obvious that they have to suffer a lot with ample uncertainty of getting cured in the future. The researchers do not have any surety that they will even get any result by destructing the creature. Society comes against human and animal hybrid creation with very strong arguments which are put forward in order to highlight the societal hazards indeed (AAVs). First of all, it comes with a confused identity that nobody has a clear distinctive vision about the resultant hybrid vision. It is because the resultant embryo comprises both, the genetic properties of humans and animals as well. It is very much disgusting to even hear about it. It is unnatural which gives more vagueness about the rationale behind the idea (Nuffield Council on Bioethics). Many religious schools of thought are in view that it is a sort of interference in God’s nature. The natural creatures are best as they are introduced. Otherwise, they cause immense hazards to the natural environment. As we can observe through the devastating outcomes in society and the environment because of this act. This also causes a violation of human rights because the lucid respect of human organs must be sustained by each and every individual. It may be specified as an illegal and unethical act that is suggested to be banned without any special condition. The moral values of human embryos and cells must not be disrespected by combining them with animal embryos which even causes blurring the original identity of human beings. It is unacceptable in the aspect of motherless creations which again move towards unnatural acts. The creations which are developed on the sole efforts of scientists are not prosperous for the natural environment. To protect the natural environment, it must be stopped. In this way, the hybrid animals or humans are the pieces of violation of the natural environment standards. This will create more distress and uncertainty among the people and sociologists about regaining their original identity. Using the human embryos for constructive purposes may be acceptable up to some extent. But the combination of creations comprised of human and animal embryos is a disgusting and repulsive act.

This would produce a demoralizing impact on societal values. Such as, the new creations would tend to spend individual and independent life- a step to obsolete the family life and collectivism from the society. This is against animal welfare and wildlife protection as well. Nobody could retain its original identity because of this act (BBC Ethics Guide, 2008).

Scientific Hurdles: Following the ethical problems that persist; people against animal exploitation put a question mark over scientific significance in results of this sort of experimentation. Bitter but true is that there is no scientific justification that may prove it validated. It may be explicated as, “90 percent drugs, which are tested and validated on animals, are failed when tested over human beings.” These studies involve numerous assumptions that impede the pertinent design of the intended models (Hsi.org). The scientific value of embryonic hybrid studies will have no significance. It is because the treatment for hybrid genetics has not been presented yet. In this way, if an epidemic comes around, it will devastate the overall environment as well because of not having any suitable treatment immediate. This is the greatest flaw ever noted resulting from human and animal hybrid embryos (BBC Ethics Guide, 2008). Read More
