However, outliers have very little effect on the median and none on the mode. d. A box plot also known as whisker plot is a graphical representation of quantitative data (Ott & Longnecker, 2010). A box plot splits the data into quartiles where the box part represents the first, second and third quartiles. Also the two horizontal lines represents the values from the first quartile to the smallest non-outlier in the data and from the third quartile to the largest non-outlier respectively.
