Fall Test the Expert Experiment Using the Sequence Generator of Maryland College MGMT 650 TurnItIn Similarity Score: __________ Introduction The experiment is designed to evaluate the capability of the test subject to recognize two comparable products. The name of the test subject in this experiment is Lavender and the two similar products tested and chosen by the test subject are Diet Coke and Coke, both from the Coca-Cola Company. Diet Coke represented as A and Coke expressed as B are similar products with a slight difference that can be recognized by a sense of taste.

The experiment has incorporated the use of a practice subject by the name of Stratham, who will assist at the rehearsal before the final analysis. Lavender was informed of the investigation and decided to take part willingly. Design of Experiment Randomization Randomization of the two products of the analysis is necessary to increase the credibility of the research and build on the unpredictability of the test products that cannot be rationally predicted well than through a random possibility.

The method of randomizing incorporated in this experiment is by the use of a Random Sequence Generator where an even digit presents sample A, and an odd figure shows sample B. Control of Experimental Conditions The use of Random Sequence Generator as a valid randomization method requires maintaining the same conditions like temperature and size when preparing and serving the two samples not to have an effect on the test subject (Sharpe, De Veaux &Velleman, 2014). Independence of Trials Each trial of the experiment must be independent, and an outcome of one trial should have no effect on the conclusion of the following trial.

This aspect will bring validity to the statistical analysis of the experiment. Measures to influence the legitimacy of the test include running multiple tests with the practice subject to ascertain any faults in the process. The faults may cause poor results or incapacity of the test subject through fatigue or any other way (Sharpe, De Veaux &Velleman, 2014). Rehearsal The rehearsal`s main purpose is to verify, improve or correct the experiment, and provide insight into the research in producing reliable results.

The practice subject did not consume any of the samples, and no recommendations were needed to increase the potential of the experiment. The procedures and samples of the experiment were adequate to initiate the test (Sharpe, De Veaux &Velleman, 2014). Data Analysis Table 1: Summary of Data Analysis Null hypothesis H0 H0: π > 0.5 (not an expert) Alternative hypothesis HA HA: π ≤ 0.5 (expert) Identify rejection region indicated by HA Sample size 20 No. of correctly identified samples 10 Name of distribution of test statistic Alpha (α) = 0.

05 Critical value of test statistic = -1.6449 Test statistic (z scores) for the 20 samples are = 0.0993464, -0.07147, -0.02568, 0.065869, -0.10698, -0.0311513, 0.0251077, 0.0821057, -0.014669, -0.144153, 0.078811, 0.0881017, -0.0552337, -0.0859095, -0.0859146, 0.076171, 0.0425281, -0.0109699, 0.0007344 and 0.0429565 P-value of test statistic = 0.005 Conclusion The critical value of the test statistic is -1.6499, the p-value is 0.005 at an alpha value of 0.05. The experiment has provided sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis as it is observed that H0: π < 0.

5 (not an expert) indicating that the subject is statistically significantly considered an expert. Lavender is an expert in differentiating Diet Coke from Coke. In order to improve findings of the experiment, more samples are required in terms of adding the number of cups, but maintaining the quantity of the samples which is 500ml. References Sharpe, N. R., De Veaux, R. D., Velleman, P. F. (2014).Business Statistics.Boston, MA: Pearson. AppendixA - Detailed Instructions Materials Needed in the experiment include: 20 small cups.

250ml of Diet Coke (Sample A). 250ml of Coke (sample B). A circular and clean table. A seat. A bottle of water. Setup: 1. The 20 small cups are placed in a circular direction on a clean round table with a comfortable seat. 2. The 250ml Diet Coke (Sample A) is poured evenly and randomly in 10 of the cups. 3. The 250ml Coke (Sample B) is poured evenly and randomly in 10 of the remaining cups. 4. The Water is to be consumed by the test subject after the experiment to remove excessive gas in the body.

Procedure for administering each sample: 1. The test subject is asked to consume the samples from the filled cups while seated and reveal the nature of the drink after each trial. The experiment consists of 20 trials and samples that correspond to the number of cups.
