Such strategy will prevent reduce man hours; reduce production wastage / recycling, and component of loss cost. The assembly package shall be designed such that it has desirable margin to increase the production runs, and expedite the production processes. The assembly package should have provision to maintain quality standards, and the quality standards can be maintained through numeric checks i.e. the temperature range, the weights of parts etc. The assembly package shall be such that the manufacturer has the margin to increase the capacity, and control the production run-time without any significant production downtime or interruption.

The assembly unit should offer "transparent control system as well as an integrated product documentation system and quality control". The certain special characteristics associated with the performance of the assembly unit includes "integration of memory units into the product carrier; such technology identifies each product and product component and records all production processes". The export of the compiled and recorded data of the production shall be consolidated and exported through "Ethernet connection or a serial interface to internal or external databases" (John, 1999).

The proposed assembly unit is new flexible Mono-Cell 4LD, the assembly model will maintain desirable production environment, and will abide by the quality control measures, and has already shorten the assembly and packaging time i.e. Time to Market interval. The proposed assembly will ensure and maintain the required qualitative standards of the product; the assembly unit is completely automated. The involvement of human interface in the assembly unit has been reduced significantly, and the quality standards have been achieved (Groover, 2000).

Assembly Process The manufacturing and assembly process of the ball-pens is simple. The assembly of plastic-ball pens have been discussed. The plastic is exposed to high temperature, and is moulded into desire shape; such transformation will require the availability of the mandrel. The mandrel will give shape and size to the moulded plastic. The moulded plastic is then cooled; the cooling will hardened the plastic cover material for the ball-pens. The entire process will require huge drum of moulded plastic, and the lifting assembly which contains the mandrels.

The lifting unit will dip into the plastic drum, and will rotate and develop contact with the plastic. Such contact will develop plastic layer on the mandrel, the thickness of the plastic layer can be controlled by ensuring appropriate insertion timing to the lifting unit. The lifting assembly is then exposed to low temperature compartment, the temperature of the compartment shall be monitored and maintained through instrumentations. The removal assembly shall be installed, which shall automatically remove the moulded pen covers from the mandrel.

The ball-pen nib is critical. Small-size lathe machine shall be required to machine the metallic piece into pointed nibs. The process can be automated through CNC. The lathe machine shall be signalled to operate and machined to specific sizes. The number of lathe machines can be increased to increase the production of the pointed nibs. The machining extent can be reduced if the metallic piece for the machining is smaller in size. The breaking of the metal bar into smaller pieces is convenient method with
