Insert Challenges facing the housekeeping department in hotel and hospitality The industry of hospitality being service familiarized the hotels experience stiff competition to operate their business profitably. Among the several changes and enhancements made by the management of the hotel is to increase customer satisfaction and occupancy, the major important function is housekeeping (Jones and Martin). The necessity for comfort, luxury, and environment that is healthy has increased diversely due to increasing in business travellers.

Most high-end homes offer living conditions that are best, putting pressure to the housekeeper’s staff of the hotel to take a step (Talwar). Due to the guest’s expectations, hotel executive housekeeper is transforming from a mere keeper of clean rooms to a higher manager in dynamic business, contributing to the organization bottom line.Housekeeping tasks are highly demanding; hence pressure is put on the subordinate cleaning areas. The level of energy due to physical work and high stress are obliged to result to service inconsistency unless the management and executives maintain the levels of motivation high (Kappa, Nitschke and Schappert).

It can be achieved through involving with staff and to ensure that monotony is eliminated in their routine work (Talwar). In addition, a major challenge experienced by housekeepers is managing guests who are experienced and well travelled. Modern guests are not only attentive of their rights but are not trustworthy to a specific brand. Customers for these days look for money value hence evaluating out hotels in the name of luxury experience (Talwar).Moreover, with modernization and technology advancement, housekeeping face has changed following trends that are latest in the hotel industry giving it a challenge to a mere housekeeper (Walker).

Besides, loyalty of the brand can be attained be evaluating the profile of the guest, anticipating their requirements that are unspoken and delivering the same (Talwar). The challenge rests in adjusting the provided service to the guests needs and engaging with them. However, all hotel chains that are reputed have their set standard for offering experience that is luxury. It presents a challenge of consistency remain while encountering high turnover and staff poaching in the hospitality sector by the competitors.
