The essay "Impressionists aims and subject" explores impressionists' subject matter and their distinctive painting method. One of his most influential pictures was the “Luncheon on Grass” which shocked Parisian audiences because it showed realistic people in modern clothing surrounding a naked woman in natural landscape. During the second half of the nineteenth century other artists took up this emerging style. France and in particular the city of Paris, city continued to provide the social background in which artists could meet together and exchange ideas with each other and with literary figures of the day. Shiff notes that the subject matter chosen by the Impressionists included the following themes “plein air subjects, views of the sea, the landscape, city streets and the vie moderne of Parisian cafés.” A painter particularly known for his connection.

Technically, education is an experience that form or mold an individual to become a better person. Historically, educated started when man probably started thinking about his capability or abilities, and then started honing these capabilities. These capabilities, as can be proven on man’s achievements today, are endless.
In the middle of the 19th century painters were moving away from idealized pictures of classical scenes and began to focus more on everyday events and people drawn from real life. It is generally accepted that the Realist painter Edouard Manet was a key figure in the drive to achieve a painting style that could more closely approach real life.
What did the Impressionists aim to do?
Impressionism was originated as artists started using their own natural ways of lighting their work. They began watching this world with new immediacy and freshness. Impressionists have certain aims in common. They gathered together to exhibit at a common studio.
This exhibition triggered the movement names Impressionism. These artists, in favor of independent exhibitions, instead of painting mythological subject matter, drew scenes from bourgeois, modern life which inspired them. Founding members of the movement involved Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet and others.
This can be seen in the Claude Monet's "Water lilies," "Water Lilies (The Clouds)" and "Water lilies, Green Reflection, Left Part" wherein Monet captured the pond with water lilies from different perspectives which in turn affects the lighting conditions.
One of significant problems presented in the esaay are that Castagnary sets out to solve, such as the examination of why a new school of thought in painting faces such opposition and whether or not the painters of this school are indeed the rejects in the field of art. It is also pointed on the quality of the artworks, the light and alert style of it.
As a revolutionary movement in the field of art, Impressionism began in Paris (France) around the mid-19th century in critical response to the formal tradition of conventional art and romanticism. The movement initially earned rejection of the Salon as the Impressionist artists in heavy opposition to government-based art policies were disallowed.
