Art homework Part one: The octopus of the piece of art: The octopus matter: The first painting is a canvas painting that portrays an octopus. This is evident with the eight legs and one head that is the common morphology for this kind of animals (Reza 53). The artist was thinking of drawing one of the most feared creatures in sea life. The piece of art has a dark color, the texture seems to be rough and the picture has covered a good amount of the space within its frame. The movement of the octopus is in a down direction. The picture of the octopus is large. Art elements: a) Color – the colors that the artist used in drawing this kind of art were opaque and dark. These are colors that are on can see in the real world. The dominant color in this picture is black. b) Lines – there are different types of lines that the artist uses . There are curved lines that are used to draw the tentacles of the animal. Swirling lines have also been used in the piece of art. The lines do occur at the edge where the color and texture change. c) Value – there are dark colors in the picture. The is no contrast between the light and dark colors. d) Shapes – The shape of the octopus is realistic. The body of the animal is organic as it has curved and irregular edges. e) Texture – the texture of the piece of art is visible. The octopus can be seen to have some polka dots that represent a rough texture. f) Movement – for the movement that is suggested in this piece of art, it is due to alternating shapes with regards to the movement of the tentacles of the octopus. Part two : Three people on horses Name of the piece of art : Three people on horses Subject matter: the second painting is an oil painting that portrays three people on horses. This is evident as the artist drew the three people from the back side and you can see the back side of the horse. Based on the dressing by the three people , they seem to be from Mexico. What the artist had in mind was drawing three people who were riding their horse in a large field most probably the large coca plantations ( Reza 38). This is evident with the vanishing point that is evident in this piece of art. The piece of art has bright colors. Art elements a) Color – the colors that the artist used in drawing this kind of art were red, yellow and green. These are colors that are on can see in the real world. The dominant colors in this picture were bright colors. b) Lines – there are different types of lines that the artist uses . There are curved lines that are used to draw the people on the horses and the mountain. Swirling lines have also been used in the piece of art. The lines do occur at the edge where the color and texture change. c) Value – there are bright color in the picture. The is small contrast between the light and dark colors. d) Shapes – The shape of the humans, mountains and the horses are realistic. The body of the humans and horses is organic as it has curved and irregular edges. e) Texture – the texture of the piece of art is visible. The field is rough but the texture horses and humans were smooth. f) Movement – for the movement that is suggested in this piece of art, it is due to alternating shapes with regards to the movement of the horses. Part three: The family Name of the piece of art: The family Subject matter : The third painting is an oil painting that portrays a family. There is a man, woman and a child at the center. The horizon that connects the man is a resemble of the connection between the two (Reza 37). The flower just besides the child means that when and woman are in love they can get married and give birth to a child. The objective that the artist had in his mind while drawing this picture was drawing a complete family and add some artistic feature like the clouds and the flowers. The picture has bright colors. Art elements a) Color – the colors that the artist used in drawing this kind of art were yellow and green and the rainbow colors. These are colors that are on can see in the real world. The dominant colors in this picture were yellow and blue. b) Lines – there are different types of lines that the artist uses . There are horizontal lines that are used to draw the clouds and curved line to the man, woman and child. Swirling lines have also been used in the piece of art to draw the flowers. The lines do occur at the edge where the color and texture change between the man and woman with the rest of the picture. c) Value – there are bright color in the picture. The is small contrast between the light and dark colors especially yellow and blue. d) Shapes – The shape of the man, woman and baby re realistic. e) Texture – the texture of the piece of art is visible. The clouds give a smooth texture. f) Movement – for the movement that is suggested in this piece of art, it is due to alternating shapes with regards to the front posture the man , woman and baby. Part four: The stone sculpture Name of the piece of art: The stone sculpture Subject matter: The fourth painting is a canvas painting of different types of stone carving that are arranged in a systematic manner. The stones used in this painting seem to be arranged in a manner that depicts the picture of an elephant (Reza 40) .The intention of the artist was to draw a picture that can have different kind of interpretation depending on the mood of the person.The color used in this picture are both bright and dark colors. Art elements a) Color – the colors that the artist used in drawing this kind of art were pink and black. These are colors that are on can see in the real world. The dominant colors in this picture were pink and black. b) Lines – there are different types of lines that the artist uses . There are broken and heavy lines that are used to draw the different types of lines. Swirling lines have also been used in the piece of art to draw the inner side of the lines. c) Value – there are bright color in the picture. The is a big contrast between the light and dark colors especially pink and black. d) Shapes – The shape of the of the stones that are used in this picture are realistic. e) Texture – the texture of the piece of art is visible.
