Sergeant Keck is not lucky. He runs into enemy lines without knowing. This complicates matters because he risks being captured and killed or held prisoner of war (Gianetti, 2007). Similarly, it predisposes his C Company to grave danger of being outgunned in the fight to capture Guadalcanal.
INT. BEHIND A BUSH
Predictably, a man appears from behind a hill and points a machine gun at the back of his head. He does not resist because he could be killed.
ENEMY

(Slowly)
Any move and you are no more…dirty American.
KECK
(Unmoved)
Who are you before I accept surrender as a prisoner of war?
ENEMY

(Angrily)
You are a prisoner of war and will face a firing squad.
KECK
(Defiantly)
At least, I am dying a hero for America.
ENEMY

War is a savage poor hero. Say goodbye to your American flag.
KECK
What are you waiting for dirty jap?
