Glossary and identification Alexander Gardener Alexander Gardner is one of the 19th century photographers. He was a Scottish, born in the year 1817 and lived for six decades. He immigrated to the United States at his 35th year and there increased his level of dedication to photography. His major works included photography on the civil war, on Abraham Lincoln, and on implementation of judgment on those who engaged in assassinating Lincoln (Davenport, 1991). Francis FrithFrith was a 19th century photographer who lived between the years 1822 and 1898.

He was English but also did his work in the Middle East. He operated cutlery and photographic studio businesses before disposing off his business to dedicate his time to photography (Davenport, 1991). Timothy O SullivanHe was born in Ireland but emigrated, with his parents, into the United States, at two years. He served in the civil war he also took photographs but later dedicated his time to photography and worked with Gardner (Davenport, 1991). Oscar RejlanderRejlander joined photography after quitting painting and portrait miniaturism.

He continued learning while in the profession and he left a legacy (Davenport, 1991). Henry Peach RobinsonHenry was an English photographer. He lived between 1830 and 1901 and is recognized for combinatory printing (Davenport, 1991). Harry Ransom Humanities Research CenterThis is a center for promoting art and humanities education through availability of cultural resources (Davenport, 1991). Dry Plate ProcessThis is a chemical based approach in photography and was an improvement of photographic plates (Davenport, 1991).
