Angela does not solve Jane’s problems. Jane has realized that Angela is beautiful, and she is not the only one. Lester, her father has lust for Angela. She makes her think of changing his life and change his body.
Lester Burnham is in his mid-forties. He is going through midlife crisis and has lost hope and he does not see any reason to live. The shot of the bedroom show as an empty bedroom which is tasteless, meaning the family relationships are not working. The colors in the room are neutral. For instance sheets, walls, lamps, and carpets are cream and white. As the bedroom is divided, this further emphasize that Lester and his wife Carolyn are not having any close intimacy. Carolyn is trying to present herself as the one who controls her life. Inside her there were feelings of being desperate and empty. In the neighborhood, there was a man by the name Colonel Fitt. This person had a son called Ricky whose aspirations were film maker and he could only become a part time film maker.
For the sake of our discussion I can select two office scenes which feature Lester and Brad. As we can see the protagonist Lester Burnham, is in a crisis. At home they cannot reason together with his materialistic and ambitious wife. His teenage daughter cannot stand either of them. At work no one can appreciate him. In this scene the company in which Lester works in, has hired an efficiency expert. Brad the expert comes in and tells Lester that is not working to the standards required by the company. He issues a warning that if Lester wishes to keep his work, then he has to perform to the mark. To the audience these men are presented differently. In this scene Lester occupies a small part of the frame (a wide shot). Also it is a high angled shot which brings him out as small. He is in the middle of a room. It is empty and nothing to hide him. In his chair, the legs are spread which shows a sign of resignation. His face expresses disappointments
