Japanese history after the world war two Introduction After the termination of the world war two in the year 1945, Japan was left in a mess. The Japanese industrial production dropped to forty percent from its peak. The country was in a state of a coma. The state was as a result of defeat and due to the loss of old beliefs, homes, livelihoods and loved ones. The Japanese used to die of starvation on the streets. It got thought that Japan had got reduced to a fourth rate power. The Japanese too believed that their chances of regaining their initial status as a major world power were unavailable. After conceding defeat and its unavoidable consequences, they applied themselves to the duty of rebuilding their war- devastated land. Gentleman of western learning and champion’s perceptions has a great significance in explaining some of the Japanese aspects as the document discuss (Adachi and Andrew 23). Discussion In the present days, scholars have advocated that there should be the abolition of war and also promote peace. It advocated for the benefits of democracy and the unification of nations using democracy. On the opinion of the gentleman, the causes of failure in the systems of administration is the making of decisions relying on mere chances. Only moral principles are of importance to the system of governance. However, the opinion of champion was different; he argued that there can be cases of advantage being taken on the nation that takes disarmament by other nations. He quoted that the gentleman scholarly articles cannot get practiced “give your opinions to journalist in the western countries as they might print the information but on the case of politicians they would consider gentleman mad” (Nakae 90). On the case of a gentleman he, believed that there are no chances of having such a nation and if there could be there would be no other option than to take countermeasures. “scholarly who are not in support of the war maintains that being aggressive is an act of immoral and, on the other hand, acts of defense is moral," Gentleman argued. On the case that the enemy attacks and the nation takes guns and military for self defense, then the act is defensive and also considered evil (Adachi and Andrew 34). The truths of philosophy do not support the application of the right of self-defense of individuals in the nation. Champion also argued that there is existence of war no matter the detestability of scholars. On his case, he argued that the nature of animals is to adore victory and disgust overpower. It also applies to scholars who treasure the theories. The scholars despise war but in reality they hate to lose and love to win. Champion stated “Anger comes as a result of quarrelling and cowards refuse to quarrel. Weak nations refuse to fight, civilized nations are strong and they fight brilliantly” (Nakae 93). According to the gentleman, “it is undesirable to have a war” (Nakae 96). It was due to the suffering of the soldiers in the war. However, he argues that war is the spirit and before the war begins, soldiers have the courage and spirit to fight. The reality involved in pain as well as suffering is, therefore, questionable. Regarding the case of a gentleman, he is fearless towards heat and cold in his own ways. He continues to write in his book and also mediate about things and not feel any pain. In the same way, a soldier is not supposed to feel any pain in the war. Mr. Gentleman’s idea of writing for pleasure could get taken by soldiers who fight to gain the same pleasure (Adachi and Andrew 37). Gentleman made his arguments based on the evolvement of history in a progressive manner. He also based his argument on the fact that there was the possibility of politics evolving towards democracy. However, he failed in observing that there are cases when advancement of politics can get observed as an overtaking of the weak by the strong. Champion hence became unwilling of accepting any of Gentleman’s argument. He mocked him and claimed that the philosophical ideas blind him. He claimed that Gentleman suggested that nations should submit to their enemies. “In the actual world wars are inevitable and there are many tigers and wolves” (Nakae 63). Gentleman is also trapped by failing to impose a linear and clear progression concerning the historical events. The aspect thus made gentleman commit a theorist’s error of making use of the fact subservient to ideology and theory. His ideas also acted as hints of an oncoming danger. At some point he insisted that the freedom and equality should have its extension to all the Japan’s citizens except those retarded, people troubled by their personal behavior, insane as well as people whom corrupt public morals or who incite others to riot. Most of gentleman’s perceptions got satirized by the means of his statements’ forcefulness (Adachi and Andrew 104). Both champion and gentleman had their own opinion about the post-war period in Japan. After Japan had lost the war it became necessary to change their constitution so that they can make progress. There is enough evidence that the affairs of the world move forward and not backwards. All activities of the world progressively move forward in a steady manner and also unceasingly. The meaning of evolution is moving from an imperfect condition to perfect condition. In the system of governance, there is the existence of an intangible tool that unifies the ruler and the ruled. Japan finally resolved to restore back to their initial way of living. They started subsequently adopting the peace constitution. It was in the year 1945 just after the termination of the world war two (Berger 106). Japan as a nation had started progressing beyond despotism and it was slowly adopting constitutionalism where its citizens had started realizing their individuality. The aspect simply entails that they started realizing their rights to participate in the government, right to own property as well as choosing their personal livelihood. The newly developed constitution brought about the freedom of the press, religion, and assembly. These got described as the rights that every human being should possess. The possession of these rights makes human beings worthy of being regarded as human beings. The constitutional system gave the Japanese the right to vote people of reputation to entrust and represent them with the legislation’s supreme power in the body regarded as parliament (Adachi and Andrew 116). The parliament is where the Japanese will reside. The enactment of the parliament in Japan played a pivotal role in the gradual adoption of peace constitution. The process, however, extended to an extensive period. The evolution was still underway until the year 1964. On the case that the statue of political evolution gets considered, there is no realization of ultimate perfection in the democratic system. In addition to the argument, the aspect of equality is required to fulfill full potentials (Berger 132). There is a need to realize that equity should get observed in any system of governance. People who pose more rights will be having more freedom compared to the people who have fewer rights. It should also get observed that the supreme rules in any governance are freedom and equity. On the case that a nation observes constitution a state of sovereignty gets observed among the citizens of the state. However, the state does not have any characteristics of national equality. A nation that highly observes constitution observes freedom as the principle that needs to get followed. The governments also have passed laws that protect the citizens of the state by avoiding the actions that are a threat to the right of citizens (Adachi and Andrew 130). The nations that observe the constitution have recorded achievement in the aspect of liberty. However, most of the nations have witnessed the emergence of a few numbers of people who are above other people. They have got awarded with titles that place them above the rights of other people. Due to that reason the nation lacked to observe the aspect of equity and gets in a position where the problem cannot get solved. The aspect of constitutionalism has not been able to solve the problem of equity; however, it recorded growth in the economies of the nations (Berger 189). The adoption of the peace constitution in Japan made the people in the country realize that there is a need to get gentle to other people. A free nation should have people who do not quarrel with others and the people in despotic countries are arrogant and also domineering. It is, therefore, worth to note that the results of freedom are beneficial to the livelihood of the people living in the state. They also benefit the businesses in the state and ennoble the hearts of the people living in the state (Adachi and Andrew 156). Conclusion The Japanese government had hard times after the end of the war. There were requirement total measures that would enable them to move forward and record growth. Gentleman and champion give out their views on how the country can get back to its feet and rebuild their land. Policies that the government of Japan implemented affected the growth of the country. The philosophers made recommendations towards disarmament as a tool towards peace and other groups of people recommended the use of military and weapons for self defense.
