Threatening sexuality: religion and homophobia (s) in conservative evangelical dis s The of the article is “Threatening sexuality: religion and homophobia (s) in conservative evangelical discourses”, Marcelo Nativity wrote this article. I found this article from the link i.e. http://www.clam.org.br/uploads/publicacoes/book2/34.pdf. The main subject of “Threatening sexuality: religion and homophobia (s) in conservative evangelical discourses” is based on religious responses to sexual diversity segments of different religious conservatives.

It explores articulations between religious perceptions of the sexual diversity and collective fears unleashed by cultural transformations linked to LGBT (Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals) recognition and visibility in the contemporary scenario, analyzing heterogeneous materials composed by ethnographic texts and articles, gathered through the map of printed medium, religious websites, official positions and other documents collected between 2007 and 2008. In light of the theoretical discussion about the discrimination that focuses on gays and lesbians, the article develops a reflection on the relations between Christian religions, sexual diversity and forms of homophobia through the analysis of religious discourses that circulate in the public sphere about the rights LGBT and sexual minorities targeted public policies.

The article also discusses the construction of the homosexual as a dangerous character and reveals the dynamic points of stigmatization that produce second class individuals (Natividade and de Oliveira, pp. 600-619).A seemingly less combative aspect of these discourses intensively discusses the possible causes of the practices and / or homosexual identities, seeking their “prevention” and suppression. As is at least curious that an in recurrently which the origins of homosexuality, but rarely ask how a person becomes a “heterosexual” (Natividade and de Oliveira, pp. 600-619). The Foucault’s work also deals with the concept of sexual diversity.

Foucault’s in his work presented the detailed theoretical description for the development of homosexual people and practices, and also offers different offerings in order to fix these issues with corrective actions. This article attempted specification of “causes” of homosexuality is guided by the need to ensure the status of normality of heterosexual people, whose hegemony is threatened before the confrontation with manifestations of sexual diversity.
