The effect of economy on culture Anthropologists play crucial professional role in the society. The study of culture dates back in the realization mankind. The formation and realization of cultures depends on many things in society. Anthropology helps us understand culture. They also help us understand what forms the basis of all cultures. Additionally, they give the relationship ties between different cultures. When anthropologists say that culture is integrated, they refer to the fact that all culture co-relate with each other. All culture regardless the background have common feature which makes them identified as one. In other explanations to integration is that all culture need another culture to thrive and grow. These relationships bring about the integration ties. The ties are strong in a way that the survival of one culture depends on the other cultures. Economics forms the base of the culture. The survival of cultures depends on the activities taken on a daily basis. These activities involve buying, selling, trading and production. These activities form the base of the term economics. The relationships between people in the culture mainly revolve around social ties and economics. With economics there are jobs, there is food, there is production of goods, there is strengthening of bonds and there is creation of trading opportunities. If the above factors are depleted in a culture the survival of people in it would be nothing to consider. According to Metcalf (pp.134) economics is responsible for what we own, what we eat, who we relate to and why we live in specific cultures. Economics revolve around production, processing, distribution and consumption. The four processes are responsible for our occupation in the society. We need the four processes for the continuity of the society. Each level provides room for employment and profession growth. Every single unit in the modern day society has to perform one of the four tasks. When it comes to the organizational structure, the four processes dictate the formation of the structure. An organization may be dealing with production of bricks. To be able to maximize on its operations, the organization needs a distribution process and a consumer base in which to sell its products. This chain of production is responsible for all the social and corporate ties that the business world enjoys. In these ties the business culture is promoted. From firm corporate ties, there is the formation and establishment of institutions. The institutions also need the consumers to be able to efficient their operations. Apart from the consumer, institutions need other organization in order to ease its operations. For example, a school may contract a paper company to aid in the supply of stationeries. From the normal corporate ties, we have the creation of institutions which are responsible for mainly education and healthcare provision. As the institutions benefit the society and different cultures, the role of economic cannot be overlooked. According to Metcalf (pp.67) the role of economics in institutions is also noted when individuals need funds to get treatment or knowledge. It can be referred to trade since to gain services from an institution money has to be the price. The production process gives rise to different personalities in the corporate world. Apart from personalities we have the creation of personal beliefs, gender roles and values. With the creation of organizations and institutions we need the human resource. The human resource is responsible for all operations being carried out in the companies. However, to get the required skills the society need to create people with the required expertise to run the organizations and institutions. With the demand of jobs increasing, the need to have quality skills becomes a necessity. With these demands there is the creation of corporate personalities. These individuals have both the skills and intelligence to run specific organizations. There is the creation of a group of individuals with class, values, beliefs and roles. The responsibilities revolve around creating a profitable corporate society. For instance, to run an institution like a hospital one should have knowledge, skills and etiquette. All the individuals working in these institutions are provided with these admirable traits (Metcalf, pp.90). The traits are carried back to society which the raises a generation of people with integrity, values and class. The society gains both economically from economics and also indirectly. The indirect gains are creation of a positive minded society and creation of personalities. In my society production, distribution and consumption is responsible for all the success. They are responsible for creation of power, great personalities and great kinship ties. As a society we need people with power to represent our cultural views. The processes of production, distribution and consumption have led to creation business empires which are led with powerful people. For instance, there is Apple Company. The impact of the company cannot be underestimated in the modern day society. The company is responsible for creation of the most key thing in the society and that is effective communication. With its creation of efficient communication tools, the company has enabled communication between millions of people. The communication and electronic tools have aided in communication both socially and professionally. The leaders in this company get the respect and acknowledgement they deserve. Steve Jobs, its former director had a lot of impact as far communication in the society is concerned. From the company’s leaders we see influence, power, personalities and great influence and we emulate that as a society. The effect on economics on gender has been very impactful. With the development of economics, the marginalized female population are become part of the revolution. Great female personalities give hope to young ladies who need to emulate their success (Metcalf, pp.45). The effect of gender is mainly done through empowerment. For example, the invention of the talk shoe business has seen the rising of talk show queens. Oprah Winfrey has positively guided millions of young ladies towards success with her empowerment talk shows. It is evident that the effect of economics in our culture and society is very important. There is a creation of a more sensitive population which we need as a revolutionary tool. Works cited Metcalf, Peter. Anthropology: The Basics. New York: Taylor & Francis.2005. Print. Read More
