ID Lecturer Ethics in the Organization Ethics within any organization of the world is an important manifestation and one that should be given necessary attention as it lays the basis for finding out where its strengths lie and what kind of weaknesses remain attached within its fore. The need is to understand that the ethical considerations should always be taken in a good stead and cultivated across the board, as far as an organizational setting is concerned. Ethics is a valuable tool that turns heads the way of the organization as has been proven with the passage of time. What is needed is courage and vigor to do things right and that too with a sense of understanding and empathy. As far as an individual ethical definition is concerned, nearly every human being has a distinctive meaning for the same. There are certain people who believe in it while others do not care much. However, what is definitive is the fact that ethics shall be embedded within the lives of the people in their personal and professional realms, because they are answerable to others and to their religious perspectives nonetheless. The workplace domains are therefore reliant on the ethical repercussions because ethics takes care of how well these organizations would comprise of success and how boldly they can defy the negatives which come their way. What is important is to realize that the ethical discussions are held in good stead, and without much trouble at any end. The people who are behind such discussions should always be taken seriously because they are doing something worthwhile, and must therefore be accepted for who they are and what they bring to the organization in essence. As far as an evaluation of my own ethical values is concerned, I am one of the few people around who comply fully with whatever comes under the aegis of ethics. This is the reason why I have always believed staunchly in the ethical manifestations and have given my best no matter how difficult it has been. This has made me into a strong-willed and determined moral individual, which remains significant to me than anything else. I can easily translate the same within my professional domains since my personal one is covered in a proper manner. I have understood that if people are treated fairly, then they respond in a positive way. However, when the dealing is more on the negative lines, the feedback that is received from them is all the more critical and this is where one can draw the line between the ethical realms and the unethical behaviors. It is important that the people realize the kind of ethical consequences they are looking forward to receiving at the hands of others. This is the reason why ethics is deemed as something that brings true value for the people no matter how tough it is to document. Ethics is therefore being seen as a major force that if employed properly, can bring about success for one and all. It can draw in productivity towards the workplace settings and give solace to the ones who actually believe in it quite a lot (Rasberry, 2000). Then again, there are some individuals who might not completely adhere with it yet somehow or the other have inkling that ethical undertakings are geared to be incorporated in the most righteous way. I am of the belief that ethics should always be employed because it has a sense of optimism attached with it that benefits the people and their work related measures in entirety. I have always envisioned ethics to be one of the most desired forms of human behavior. This is because it completes an individual and makes him feel empowered in the most basic way. It allows him to manifest his truest self without the fear of anyone, which is very significant if seen within the related scheme of things. When the same understandings are reached upon in an organizational setting, the focus seems all the more pertinent. There is reason enough to believe such a premise, largely so because the ethical boundaries are defined by the actions and the people who undertake these ethical behaviors in the first place. I am therefore of the view that ethics should always be encouraged across the board because it resolves the ambiguities that mar the very basis of the people and gives them the hope that they so require of their own selves. An organization’s workplace values should be critical to its success. This is because these manifest how truly it wants to inculcate an atmosphere of harmony amongst its employees and give them the room to grow and develop beyond a certain level. I am sure that a workplace would work wonders for employees if it is ethically-driven than being at crossroads with an unethical demeanor on the part of its employees. The need is to comprehend how negativity could be reduced and how a sense of optimism can be cultivated through the ethical incorporations (Rutgers, 1999). Then again, it is of paramount significance to comprehend that ethics can never be deemed as complete if there are no efforts made by the people in charge. If these people are not being truthful about their dealings and behaviors to the rest of the employees and workers who are present within the organizational workplace, then this means that there is something wrong somewhere, and a solution needs to be found at the earliest. On the same token, a culture of ethics would eventually mean that the employees trust one another, look up to each other for solving their own problems and that of the organization, are more inclined to bring a positive and fresh attitude at work, and are generally more vibrant in their respective performance domains. What needs to be understood is how ethics has to be implanted within the lives of the people and how they will bring about success at the end of the day. An ethical culture is therefore a much desired one because it gives the employees something to ponder upon and that too in a positive way. I firmly believe that ethics should not be compromised upon at all and more so within the organizational settings because lack of it could mean that the organizational undertakings would be bargained upon and employees would start having a sense of resentment within their entireties. This is the reason why employees usually like it when they are working within a culture that is ethically-driven and which basically believes in the premise of ethics more than anything else. However, this is at times hard to identify since some employees have their ulterior motives which they are willing to fulfill. A proper code of ethics within any organization is a very serious and fundamental undertaking. This code of ethics assures one that the employees have to follow it at all times and do not stray from the set path of action. They must remain loyal to their organization by following the ethical rules and policies, which are significant. This code of ethics is therefore the way forward as far as understanding the nuances of the business domains are concerned. Also the personal, one to one level understandings are realized when the code of ethics is in full play and when there are concerted efforts on the part of the management to set things right. This code of ethics is drafted by the human resource management department and it is their duty to make sure that the employees and workers know about it, follow it and respect it from their heart. The essence of organizational sanctity depends a great deal on how well the code of ethics has been developed and how adequately sound it has been employed. The mission and vision statements of the organizations should similarly be drafted in such a way that they give maximum significance to the ethical undertakings. Since these are statements that are meant to remain in the long term, the need is to comprehend how well they have been designed and what kind of meaning actually lies within them. The mission and vision statements should therefore mention specifically where the ‘coming out clean’ element has to be discussed and discerned. If these mission and vision statements are not given the due significance that these require, then there could be serious anomalies resulting from the same. The premise of ethics can nosedive and hence people would not understand what the organization wants to say in essence. The senior management within the organizational workplace is also responsible for making sure that the organizational mission and vision statements are properly written and that there are no hiccups in the wake of understanding them (Small, 2006). It is therefore a good idea to have a proper feeler of other mission and vision statements before an organization comes up with its very own. These discussions are important to have because these outline where the shortcomings can crop up from, and what kind of changes can be brought about to have a sense of ease with the organizational ethical debates. This will bring the remedy that is much required without a doubt and from an organizational angle resolve issues and ambiguities from arising. Within my organization, there is an ethical policy which is in use. I am lucky enough to be a part of such an organization which believes in having an adequately sound code of ethics, and a proper dictum where things get done in an amicable manner, without much fuss. The seniors know that they need to inculcate such an environment which fosters harmony across the board and give the employees the much needed room to set things right within their fore. The focus is on doing things the correct way more than any other thing imaginable (Schmidt, 1992). Also a sense of truthfulness is time and again emphasized upon so that the employees remain steadfast in their approach and give their very best, no matter how trying or tough the circumstances turn out to be. I have learned that my organization is doing something worthwhile for employees like me because I did not have much of an experience with regards to the professional undertakings before I joined the workplace. This organization allowed me to understand where I was going wrong and what corrective measures I need to have within my basis. I always seek help from my seniors and even the peers who are actually my colleagues doing their best to compete and work hard, day in and day out. The organizational understandings are important for employees like me who are new and know little about the organizational dynamics. One thing that I have learned immensely well is how ethics has to be analyzed, learned and performed time and again, as this is something that holds a great amount of value nonetheless. The organizational ethical discourse is therefore a pertinent one with emphasis paid on how well things shape up from time to time. Also the manner under which employees are told to work their way through tasks is an important one and demands much attention on their part. One must understand that the ethical discourse should always be given significance as it is the basis of properly discerning where the employees are missing out and what corrective measures they need to have within their fore. Then again, this is easier said than done due to a number of issues which keep on arising from time to time. If these issues do not arise, then the debate could easily be understood. When these issues surface time and again, it is due to the weak links that are present within an organization, and which must be taken care of at the earliest to bring about harmony within the ethical comprehensions. The ethical discourse is always endorsed by the people who believe in it the most. These include the senior management realms who have given their best towards coining a proper ethical code and who look forward to implementing it in an adequately sound manner. One must understand that an ethical discourse is the basis of finding out where negativities have arisen and how these could be resolved in an amicable fashion. In essence, the role of ethics is something that must be taken care of as far as an organizational understanding has to be realized and achieved. Ethics is appreciated by people who belong to different cross-sections of the society but might not implement it fully within their lives due to a number of reasons. The organizations are not an exception to this rule. There are people who would absolutely cherish the idea of being ethical and they expect the performance of ethics by other people as well, but they would not be sure whenever they are committing a task, no matter within their personal lives or professional ones since they are more inclined towards getting their tasks done. This is one negative aspect that surrounds the basis of ethics and its conformance within the personal and professional domains (Crosbie, 2008). In essence, I feel proud that I am part of such an organization which wishes to give its employees a proper code of ethics and a standard policy that takes care of their concerns and issues. I am delighted to work amongst individuals who obey this code and believe in its nuances more than anything else. This is something that makes me come to work with each passing day and reaffirms my belief on a regular basis. The senior management within my workplace are also very adamant at having an ethical manifestation of tasks because they know the advantages that come attached with it. This is one of the most important reasons why I feel privileged to be working amongst individuals who are loyal to the organization and showcase their true class and exuberance time and again. In the end, it would be proper to state here that I feel content with what has been on offer as far as my working domains are concerned. These have made me feel good that now I am fully equipped to bring about a positive change within my personal and professional lives. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the human resources management department here as well since this department has played its proactive role at solving issues and that too on a day to day basis. They have set the ball rolling as far as handling both trivial and important issues are concerned. They have looked after the rights of the people who are working within the organization and given them ventilation in one way or the other. However, I am certain that many new changes can be brought in with the passage of time because these can have a lasting and positive affect on the professional lives of the employees. All said and done, this paper highlights the basis of success that has been mentioned in the organizational ethics discussion.
