How many times have we heard about the respect to animals, water, nature around, and other people? Still, the representatives of large enterprises tend to forget these rules. Child abuse, destruction of the environment, death of civilization… These issues are raised in the video. Derrick Jensen touches essential global problems as for today.
Through a sober outlook and humor, he delivers the primary reasons for our civilization to fail soon. He seems a rather controversial person to me. “An industrial civilization cannot be sustainable,” Jensen claims.
People destroy the land needed for survival. Yes, we need those areas, but there is no way of surviving without food, beverages, and accommodations. And all of these elements are produced with the help of resources essential for living. Most people do not ruin the planet intentionally.
It was mentioned that resources are gathered from the countryside. That’s why villages and small towns suffer more than big cities. But what is another option? Big cities are too much polluted to produce healthy natural ingredients. We don’t have a choice.
“It’s like to take a rainforest and turn it into the desert,” says Zoe Blunt of Forest Action Network about the consequences of importing goods made of cut down forests. It is not about economic injustice. It is more a question of morality and ethics.
We should think of people remaining on those wastelands instead of thinking only of own wealth. The police are there to protect large corporations and their rights, ignoring the rights of innocent people.
Another critical issue is our dependence on technology. The progress never stops, so it makes a lot of scientists worry about the future.
I support the point of the guy talking in the end governments must stop disarming people. People fighting for equality and environment safety need weapon to resist the pressure.
To my mind, government should stop supporting such organizations and invest more in the wastelands recovery.
