Lecturer: Writing Strategy The Three Aspects of Writing One of the essential issues of writing is the length. In writing an essayword, the count should be taken into account. Furthermore in most essay papers, the length of the words is specified, therefore, in such a case the writer must adhere to the instruction. However, in taking care of the word length, the writer should incorporate the all the ideas and the thematic concerns that are necessary. Moreover, there are circumstances when the length of the words that should be used is not specified. In such a case, the writer is not supposed to use a lot of words that are not necessary at the expense of the requirements of the essay. Moreover, an excellent article includes all the sides of the story such that the reader does not feel that there are more things that the writer was supposed to write, and he has left out. Otherwise, it can bring a negative effect on the way the author writes. Another aspect of writing is the structure of the essay. An essay should have a logical structure. An essay should have a clear flow of ideas such that when somebody reads it, he does not have a difficult time in connecting the writing to the topic of the essay. It is prudent that the writer have a deep understanding of the subject before he can start working on the problem. Ones the writer has understood the subject, he organizes everything in the mind then he can put down the outline of the essay. In starting to write the essay, there should be the introduction of the whole work. The introduction will include what the writer is going to talk about in the body. By going through the introduction, the reader is supposed to get a clinch of what the whole essay is addressing. After the introduction, the writer goes to the body of the work. The body is where the major thematic concerns are incorporated. The body should be in line with what the author included in the introduction. Lastly the final thought or the summary closes the writing what are three things youre still working on in your writing? How will you work on those areas in the future as a college/academic writer? One of the things I am working on so as to improve on my essay writing is the coherence in an essay. Coherence is all about the unity of the sentences, paragraphs, and every phrase that the writer uses in the piece of writing. The pattern of the logic must be clear and carefully planned. To achieve the cohesion, I avoid ambiguous words and sentences in my books by writing clear sentences that will not pose a problem to those who are reading my work. Moreover, a beautifully fashioned essay should have several paragraphs whose ideas are connected in a way that they are well understood. Furthermore in achieving the paragraph unity, I always give focus on one general topic sentence. Such a step will enable me not to have a dived thought on various topic sentences. In addition, I will control the content of each and every sentence that I write so as to strengthen the focus of my question. Again I will ensure that all the sentences focus on the topic sentence or creating a better way of understanding of the problem. On the other hand sentence, cohesion is also a factor in the broader category of cohesion. The ideas in the sentences should be appropriately linked so to bring coherence (Richards, 56). For instance, to avoid repetition of words, I will use the synonyms of the word that I was going to repeat. Moreover, in linking the sentences together, I use the transitional sentences with the particular commonsensical connection. Another aspect that I am dealing with is ensuring that I answer the right question that the orders of the essay expect. The writing should always target at answering the question in the right way. I do that by ensuring that the essay is within the context. Furthermore, careful reading of the topic sentence also works out. The third aspect is the grammar. In grammar, I take care of the subject- verb agreement. Again I ensure that the grammar that I use is simple and condensed; furthermore, I avoid the use of unnecessary vocabularies that confuses the readers. To add on top, I do avoid the use of gender biased in pronouns. AThe essay of the writing has the introduction where the student introduces his concerns and the plight of others student. Therefore, the first thing is the introduction. The second thing is the body of the essay. The last thing is the conclusion, where the student gives the recommendation on what the management of the parking space should do so as to ensure that the plight of the students is put into consideration. Rhetorical Choices (Logos, Ethos, Pathos) The ethos in how the identity of the author affects information that he is talking about. In this case, the writer has all the rights to address the issue of the parking space because he is also affected. The author points all the evil things that the parking management is doing without hiding anything. He says that they practice corruption in the issuance of the parking space. Furthermore, the student points where the authority that is connected to their problem is coming from. The pathos is the part of the triangle that is responsible for the emotions of the audience. The audience in our case is Parking Access Management at North Carolina University and the administration of the university. The massage directly affects them because the problem emanates from their sector. The reason as to why the student is communicating with the management is for them to take proper action in embracing transparency and create more parking space to the growing demands of the same. Lastly, the logo is the astuteness in which the message is given. For instance in the case of the student, it is the fact that the students were taking too much time in getting the parking space. The wastage of time later translated into failure in academics and poor performance in curriculum activities. Three things that offer as evidence from the essays in the portfolio for how youve used the rhetorical triangle The rhetorical triangle is a way in which one puts his or her ideas in communication. When presents his case, the way he puts it should be convincing. The rhetorical covers three aspects, the writer who is the student, Ahmed Alkalbani, the audience that is the Campus and Parking Access Management at North Carolina University and the context that is the problem that the students are facing in getting the parking space. The student presented the case in a way that it evokes the emotion of the audience. For example, when he says the problem that the student faces as a result of failure to get the parking space for a lesser fee, the body responsible must just take their plight into consideration. The essay of the writing has the introduction where the student introduces his concerns and the plight of others student. Therefore, the first thing is the introduction. The second thing is the body of the essay. The last thing is the conclusion, where the student gives the recommendation on what the management of the parking space should do so as to ensure that the plight of the students is put into consideration Stylistic/Organizational Choices of Arrangement in Portfolio The invention addresses what the writer is supposed to write when presented with an essay to write. The writer should organize the work in a logical order so that the ideas can be well understood. The writer should have a good understanding of the topic before he can start working on it. The arrangement of the work is also important. The writer outlines the introduction where he outlines the major issues that he is going to write on the body. The style is another important thing that the writer has to consider when. The method includes the emotions that the writer uses in presenting his issue (Richardson, 89). Like in our case study, the student has employed the use of a sad emotion following the words that he uses in the writing. The feelings create the mood that can in turn influence the way in which the audience will react towards the subject. In our study, the management of the parking space will have to take an active look at the plight of the student. The Style is also called the elocution that entails the employment of winsome words to convince the audience. Writing Processes- Drafting, writing and Revision Drafting in the writing process involves giving an outline of the work that you are going to do. Furthermore, it entails putting down the key points in note form so that when you are writing, you don’t get out of the subject sentence. The draft acts as a guideline when writing the body. The writing now involves connecting the ideas in the draft into the final paper. The writing is organized into paragraphs that coherently connected so as bring out the central theme that the writer is talking about. Lastly revision is when the writer goes through what he or she has written so as to see whether the topic sentence is extensively explained. At this point, the author can add what he feel he has left out, at the same time he removes unnecessary ideas. Work cited Clark, Roy P. Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer.
