Over the years, Haute couture has seeped beyond the borders of the main fashion capital, Paris, to other fashion capitals like New York, Milan, and London. Since Haute couture is made only for one specific customer and is high-end, the fabric and other materials used in the creation of the dress are of the best quality and a lot of emphases is placed on sartorial details. As a result, it often takes up a time to design and sew the dress and to perfect it in every possible way. This also requires a number of hand-executed techniques (Various, 2007).

This essay traces the history of Haute couture and the contribution of Charles Worth in its development. The essay explores the role that it plays in the contemporary world and how it has been used as an advertisement for the elite who can afford it. The essay sheds light on the scope of Haute Couture given the role that it has in the modern world and the effect it has today on the society. The main theme of the essay deals with the lack of relevancy of Haute couture in today’s fashion industry and the negative impact that it has on the society.

The designers were required to concentrate on every bit of fine detail, producing beautiful clothes that were impeccable in every possible way. The dolls set fashion trends in the European countries.
