Personal ment Personal ment I am a of Arts of A-level in Hailey buries School in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I am studying Arts because it is the study of creative skills and its stimulation of the thoughts of an individual that I deeply enjoy. Besides this, beliefs, emotions and ideas of Art are passed through my senses. Works of the Arts for instance, fashion design, can always be explicitly made primarily for the purpose or interpretation on the basis of objects, which for the case of the fashion design are the fabrics. This is according to Davies, 2013. Lastly, the reason I considered Art is because it exploits a diverse range comprising of human activities and the resulting products arising from the activities. These activities are the work production of art. I acquired the interest of fashion design way back in late 90s. As I was growing in my early childhood, in a desolate village somewhere in Kazakhstan, a community comprising of multi-cultures aspects, the interests of fashion design dawn on me. This was from non-other than my great-grand mother. I cherished and admired her a lot. The machine block she had was green, very massive and to my dismay, very attractive due to the metallic material it was made of. The flow of fabric produced constant rhythmic strum of sound from the pedalling and pressing on the machine every moment and more often was beyond no doubt in terms of interest of the creativity she had. To my astonishment, she could sew anything; from lace of skater dresses that are collared, fabricated robes that are soviet felt to the quilted blankets. The knowledge I have acquired from the Hailey buries School consents me to apply for a fashion course at university level. The art course at IGCSE level made me have knowledge of course works like; different media in which, media in all aspects from the various levels of introduction to application in the field, photography involving both theoretical and practical approach and how images are produced. Furthermore, the level offered pottery as an art where practical perspective was widely exploited. Painting of objects was also offered in terms of identifying the different types of paints and how there mixtures are ascertained. In the A-level, different course works were provided and which included; textile design involving production of fabrics from the initial stages to the last stages using different types of fabric materials. This was offered both theoretically and practically to emphasize on the various levels of creative skills. Secondly, embroidery course work involving the decoration of fabrics from different materials alongside with embellishment which is the further addition of materials to the decorated cloth in form of colours and designs to make the end product more attractive. Additionally, knitting both by hand and machine was an important course work in making of fabrics. Different types of hemming were studied using different types of fabrics and threads to match a given fashion. Alongside this was the tie-dying and silk painting both as decorative approaches in designing a given material. Apart from the knowledge gained from the IGCSE and A-levels, additional information regarding fashion design was obtained from other courses from outside workshops. They included the summer course on the dressmaking that was from a local source, inside the school. It involved home for sewing machines store attended twice a week. The main objectives of the course was to; ascertain the various types of pattern construction of clothes which are the tops, skirts, trousers, sleeves, alongside comprehending more about the plan of cutting the pieces of cloth from a given material in form of sizes and shapes. It also involved the knowledge of manufacturing process of garments from the raw material to the final product involving the various chemical compositions and steps necessary. Apart from the workshop of dressmaking, opportunity of attending fashion shows was a significant attribute in deepening the knowledge of fashion design. The show was Kazakhstan Show Week whereby different types of fashions from different sources and materials were on display. Indeed creativity is vast and therefore each and every time new fashions emerge (Davies, 2013). Secondly was the Mercedes-Benzes fashion show exhibiting the different types of fashion. Was lastly the opening of the Villa Dei Fiori Boutiques having various kinds of products made from different materials embedded nicely with various designs and embellished with colours to bring out the aesthetic prospect from the onlookers? Therefore, right from the interest I acquired from the great grand-mother mainly through obsession with the knowledge I have gained in school both at the IGCSE level and the A-level, fashion design has been my area of interest from the creativity skills have so far outlay. However, this experience will be strengthened by further attaining undergraduate studies in fashion design from a recognized university in the United Kingdom. This is as a result of the good reputations the Universities within the region have had as far as fashion and its relevance are concerned. My personal strengths include; excellent communication skills. I speak English, Russian and Kazakh. Moreover, I have the ECAs in French, German and Italian. This attribute have been evident in MUN master class from the school as well as the several debates I have participated in. Secondly, the leadership skills are within me. This was highly achieved from the responsibilities I had; including music prefect where my roles included announcements of different types of concerts within and outside the schools. Another function under this responsibility was organizing canteen concerts on Tuesday lunch times. Lastly, the leadership involved the position of house captain whom the tasks included making and selling of ribbons for charity of Worlds Aids and also taking part in house competitions and talking on assemblies. My hobbies include reading with children on lunch times and participating in charity events like recreational activities with Down’s syndrome children from the orphanage on Friday lunchtimes each week. Also, I enjoy sporting activities like skiing, playing tennis and basketball and also swimming. I also play guitar and piano as my favourite’s musical instruments. Reference list Davies, H. (2013).
