3D DESIGN PROJECT PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS By (Name) Course Professor’s name University name City, State Date of submission 3d Design Project Performance Analysis The design process is a little interesting. The use of personal drawing skills comes in handy during the process. Especially when using the 2D, only other than the existing software. The final design stage and analysis becomes easier with the analysis software. The software, however, has proved to be unreliable and variable to establish a fair assessment baseline. 3D software allows for the creation of a three-dimensional model that is always versatile when rendering, for example modifying adjusting light sources and object rotation for viewing from various angles while 2D models incorporate computer-aided drafting and individual drawing skills. The advantage of using CAD in design other than sketching is the fact that it saves on time. The computers make the design process simpler and easier to correct mistakes when compared to drawing. The quality of the output also becomes quite subtle. Many architects would love to present a masterpiece to their clients. However, there is a more recommended way to handle the design process. Most designers begin with freehand drawing and then do the final design in CAD. This helps to polish the output. During the design, use of building performance software improves the quality of the design. When used well, using BIM for building performance analysis can help you develop a form sustainably. It is powerful for sustainable design because it can help you test iteratively, analyze, and improve your design. It has the capability of helping the designers to explain the functionality of their earlier enough during the process of developing their building, when design changes can be easier, less expensive, and more impactful to implement.  The 3D design software that currently exists include Bricscad, ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Revit and other computer aided design software that work well during this stage. Personally working with the software is much easier that when using the 2D alone. It is tiresome and requires extra drawing skills? AutoCAD AutoCAD is a commercial software application for 2D and 3D computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting. It contains a 2D documentation, drafting and detailing. Dimensioning, tagging, and annotation features that make it easier to use. AutoCAD is widely used as commercial software for 2D & 3D Computer Aided Designs and drafting. Since 1982, AutoCAD application is always available as an application in desktops and as a mobile website since 2010. This application was cloud based, and it has since been marketed as AutoCAD 360. USERS It is the most widely used program around the whole world. It is used by people employed across an extensive range of industries, by architects, project managers, engineers, designers, and different professionals. It has had a number of versions released to the market. From AutoCAD Version, 1.0 released on 1982 December to AutoCAD 2016 version 30 released on 2015, March 20. COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER SOFTWARES When compared with Revit, it is more flexible as you have all the surface, mesh and solid commands of AutoCAD. ESRI ArcMap 10 enables export as AutoCAD drawing files. Civil 3D allows trading as AutoCAD objects and as LandXML. LANGUAGES AutoCAD 2014 is available for English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, and Brazilian Portuguese. Russian, Czech, Polish, Hungarian will be existing in the near future. The AutoCAD command set is localized as a part of the software localization. SKETCHUP SketchUp previously known as Google Sketchup is a computer program for 3D modeling that has an extensive range of drawing applications such as architectural, interior design, civil and mechanical engineering, film, and video game design. The versions include SketchUp Make and a paid version with additional functionality, SketchUp Pro. Currently owned by Trimble Navigation, a mapping, surveying, and navigation equipment company. It is easy to use. There is an existing online open source library of free model equipments like doors, windows, automobiles. It was developed by startup company @Last Software of Boulder in Colorado. It was co-founded in 1999 by Brad Schell and Joe Esch. PROS It allows professionals to design what they feel since they have the freedom designing with paper and a pen in a simple and well-designed interface. It is fun to use and easy to learn, and is used by designers to create very complicated design work that might be considered not possible to be built with the traditional design software. It also has user-friendly buttons that make it easy to use. This is the fastest, most straightforward and a very versatile CAD. It makes it capable of creating non-existing forms. It is the perfect tool for one off design, house, prototypes, and machines. Very simple to learn, many people use it. Used in Parts & Assembly Modeling, Simulation & Analysis, Animations & Rendering, and Documentation. It is user-friendly and has no cost incurred. It is Excellent to make fast budgets for estimates of any work or formal resources as well. COMPARING REVIT, SKETCHUP, AND AUTOCAD Revit is more detailed hence making it harder to comprehend than Sketchup. For this reason, buildings are therefore drawn to very strict guidelines and also to enable the document for construction to be made easier. AutoCAD is considered best for 2D drawing where only precise line work is needed, such as elevation detail drawing while Revit is considered best for modeling, generating cost schedules, collaboration, and change management. AutoCAD is widely used by various professions such as architects, engineers, project managers, designers, and other related professionals while Revit software is mainly designed for, structural engineers, architects, designers and contractors. Sketchup is the easiest 3D modeling program and easily affordable since it is relatively cheap. The price of purchasing Sketchup Pro's sticker is almost half the price of AutoCAD's. Google. Sketchup version is also free in Google, and it has all the required design tools. AutoCAD is a better modeling program with tools that are very conceivable and obtain any solution that a model may impose. There are other elements that assist in choosing a program and that include the NURBS surfaces, file format, and rendering engine. Sketchup produces poor photorealistic images while AutoCAD creates quality photorealistic images as Revit. Revit is better-designing program when compared to SketchUp since when the lay of the land is obtained, drawing up the plans become easier and precise than when using SketchUp. In addition to this, it has a better capability in rendering.  Sketchup has maximum file portability as compared to Revit and AutoCAD. AutoCAD enables users to come up NURBS surfaces while SketchUp does not pose this ability. AutoCAD has maximum flexibility in the design approach while Sketchup has some limitations. AutoCAD has 2D documentation, drafting, and detailing, Dimensioning, tagging, and annotation Schedules, Material takeoff while Revit Revision has tracking, 3D modeling, Building Information Modeling (BIM). It also has Visualization,3D orthographic and perspective views, Rendering1, Animations, Collaboration, TrustedDWG technology, Revit file exchange. Read More
