Do you think Martin Luther King Jr has resonance? Why? Martin Luther King has resonance. His contributions toward the ending of discrimination still resonates and honored today that even the President of the United States made his Inaugural Address during a holiday dedicated to him. Reverend Martin Luther King’s resonance that assumed a mythical ascendancy is attributed primarily to his advocacy of ending discrimination against the blacks as exemplified in his immortal “I Have a Dream” speech.

The speech have become one of the most famous speeches of all time and is regarded as a milestone in the development of the civil rights movement (The Week, 2013) which also explains why Martin Luther King has resonance. The manner that Martin Luther King asserted his advocacy against discrimination through his civil rights movement was non-violent and assumed a dignified appeal that is palatable to people of all ages (Wapshot, 2013) which explains why such speech is not time bound. The “I Have a Dream” speech was also highly regarded not only for the cause it advocated, but also for the substance, the way it was written and the manner it was delivered that students until today are required to study his speech as one of the greatest speech ever written and delivered for all times.

It did not only moved people during his time but also changed the history of America that even President Obama, the first black President made his Inauguration Address on Martin Luther King Day as a great symbolic resonance of Martin Luther King (Younge, 2013).
