If Hamlet were elected the King of Norway, he would have led as a leader who runs his country in an imaginary way that avoids fighting against its enemies, by conquering other Kingdoms who invade their territory. In most of his activities, “he works out with his uncle Claudius another venture against his father” (135). This implies that he would have protected and worked with his enemies which would lead to recapturing of the territory. Similarly, Hamlet was afraid of confronting his enemies and hence would have disadvantaged Norway.

The Danes would prefer to be ruled by Fortinbras instead of Hamlet because Hamlet preferred to sit down and contemplate life. Whereas, Fortinbras was thoughtless and acted by conquering other countries when the army captain asked him to join the troop to reclaim a small plot grabbed by another territory. “Fortinbras invasion of the corner of Poland does clash with other systems” (135). This shows the extent to which he was ruthless in dealing with other territories. Because of this, Danes would prefer him to give them protection.
