It gives him time to think out the plan; he acts humane when he talks to his mother about reality; and, he acts very humanly when he gets enraged. His self-discovery makes the reader believe in his wisdom.

On the other hand, The Caucasian Chalk Circle is a story that disproves Aristotle’s quote. Grusha is a maid who is handed over the custody of the King’s child, Michael. She takes him away and hides him in her brother’s home. She gets married to a man she does not like, and the story goes on. At the end, when Michael is put into the chalk circle, Grusha lets him go so that his real mother can have him. This shows that wisdom can also arrive without the art of knowing oneself since Grusha is not the kind of person who tends to show an intellectual understanding of life and existence. She does not undergo any journey of self-discovery; still, she has the wisdom to sacrifice what she adores just because the reality is different. So, there are many other triggers of wisdom than just knowing oneself.
