Obesity is caused by a lot of factors. It may even be hereditary. Meaning, the person may really be predisposed to gaining weight due to his or her genetic make-up that is why he or she is obese. The most common cause of obesity, however, is due to an unhealthy lifestyle such as poor eating habit and an inactive lifestyle. The topic is about the problem of obesity which has already taken an epidemic magnitude due to its prevalence among teenagers. To address the issue, teenagers must begin to adopt a healthier lifestyle before they develop any weight-related ailments such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. 1. The anticipated problem with adopting a healthier lifestyle is that a teenager may be alienated by his or her social group because of the adoption of a lifestyle that is not common in the group.

For example, teenagers normally love fast foods such as McDonalds and part of adopting a healthy lifestyle is avoiding such type of food. It will be a little off when everybody is ordering burger, fries, and soda and you only have water. 2. Healthy lifestyle may take its toll on the teenager’s social life. Part of living healthy is avoiding staying up late. That could mean no party and no social life which will make a teenager’s life boring. If that is the case, the proposal may become unpopular 3.

Healthy foods are more expensive. If one will embark on a healthy diet, one has to prepare shell extra dollars for the food because they are not cheap. This will certainly make the proposal unpopular. 1. Perhaps the most valid element of the critique is the alienation of a teenager if he or she will adopt a lifestyle that is different from his or her peers. Social groups are important to a teenager and this may discourage one to take up the lifestyle.
